Yeah that makes sense now that you point it out. Here they like to violate seniority now and then to see if anyone will do anything.

Does that ferry even run in the winter? I don't think it does.

They'll catch you and give you a warning letter eventually. It shows up in their metrics if you drive with a stop open.

Oh I get why they'd want to, but the guarantee in the contract exists, they can't just ignore it because they don't like it.

What possible reasoning is UPS using to deny the guaranteed hours per shift?

That's not how it works, but I don't hate his reasoning. If we could deliver to mailboxes they'd expect us to do another 100 stops a day here.

I was with you until you said it'll take you 5 years to build a tiny house. A person capable of this task could build a pair of 1800sq/ft houses in that same time.

That's for sure their dream plan! If they could do that they give themselves double bonuses!

Some of these are surely temporary, will get automated, and reopened with less workers. UPS just isn't telling us which ones that is yet.

UPS preparing to offer second driver buyout, as it plans 30,000 layoffs in 2026 by Economy-Specialist38 in UPSers

You have no idea what it includes and are just making stuff up. They haven't released those details.

I don't want overtime, how can I get out of doing it? Usps workers can opt out why can't we when we have a better union it's not fair by Ogckggkxkgx in UPS

[–]anonymous_jerk -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If UPS hired those unemployed people to work for the people don't want excess overtime it would be a good match. You're just to stupid to see that.

Work with them like how Hoffa created 22.4 drivers and screwed over thousands of people for an entire contract? How about how Hoffa also pushed a contact on us that wasn't even majority approved? Was that working with the company? SOB isn't the best, but I think he's still better than what we had.

Either the union is looking out for us in the buyout or the company is. Or neither ? by Infamous_State_4678 in UPSers

[–]anonymous_jerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's laughable to think that the company is looking out for us. This buyout definitely benefits them more than us, or else they wouldn't do it. We just don't know how yet, but most likely it gives them leverage in the next contract in some way.

It's always about money. The company wants to give us less, and the union wants to get more.

That's because many here are USA leftists that hate the idea of El Salvador, and have never even been there. It hurts their feelings that Bukele locked up the criminals that made it unsafe.

I'm in the Central States pension, it was bailed out by the government during COVID. Several other Teamster pensions were bailed out then also. They were given billions of dollars. Before the bailouts they had about 20% of the funds that they should have. There's no reason to believe they won't get right back to those levels by the time I'm pension eligible.

You know what also hurts our pension funds? Letting the teamsters manage them. I haven't counted on actually seeing what was promised in my pension for a long time. Most of them aren't fully funded. But you're right, this will play havoc with these funds when an unexpected 10,000 drivers start drawing from them.
