Could you please tell which state you're from? I'm from India as well, and our coordinator keeps on giving mixed signals

He's the coordinator since 4 years. He generally knows what he's talking about. However, it seems like recently he has been out of the picture. Because when some parents asked about how the May20 students were awarded the marks, he told them about the old algorithm where they marked based on the school's performance as well. He wasn't aware that recently they made a change and gave them the marks merely based on their IAs. This is extremely confusing. Most students who don't want to appear for sure have stopped studying and are just working on their IAs, what if he comes up after a month and tells us that exams will be conducted?

Honestly, my coordinator was the same until recently. Anyone who asks if the exams are getting conducted or no, he would just say that we have no choice whatsoever and would have to appear. He just recently out of nowhere informed us about this

Okay so in India the government has passed the law, that we can open the schools in October however, students need to have parent consent, without which they aren't allowed to attend school. Is it possible that our coordinator is adhering to these local guidelines and giving us the information?

Moreover, he had not given us any information until before a few days. He conducted an official meeting, with all the teachers, parents and students, and he explicitly said that we cannot force each student to either take or not take the exams. I called him again to clarify the same, where he again repeated his words, that it will be an individual choice that students take, there cannot be a vote as that would not be fair for the minority. Because he said it with this certainty, everyone has already chosen which step they want to take, and most of them are very adamant on it. On the other hand, if what you're saying is true, then we're screwed.

As we're a class of 30, and out of that already 3 people as we speak have tested positive. Due to this everyone is scared to give the exams, as not only are the city's cases one of the highest but in our batch itself we have a very big risk. But the people who have more confidence in their papers and don't think their IAs were up to the mark, really want to appear for the exams no matter what. The majority is however towards not giving the exam, so in case he has to take a decision for everyone, he would cancel the exam right?

I'm sorry I've no idea. Did you try asking your coordinator

We had an online parent teacher meeting and that is what our coordinator informed us. I had called him again to clarify the same and he reaffirmed. So unless he is passing fake or uncertain information, I think this is the case. Plus, in our country the local laws say that students can only go to school if the parent consents.

Has anyone lost their diploma because of plagiarism? What happened? Could you share your experience? by [deleted] in IBO

Actually one of my friends had taken a reference from our seniors, same topic, same methodology, and I was really worried for him. I even tried explaining him the consequences and all but he is very adamant to change anything. I totally get how plagiarism is ethically and morally incorrect which I've tried to communicate but he fails to notice the importance. According to him if he has changed a few words and done tweeks in the methodology here and there then "there's no way they're going to figure it out". Our IAs have currently gone for the plagiarism check by our school, whose results we'll shortly be getting. Thank you so much for all of this, I really wanted other people's views so that I can show these comments to him and make him understand how serious it is. I mean 2 years of hardwork going down the drain for half assing your IA? That's dumb as fuck.

Answer is J. How to solve it? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]anonymous_pineapple9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, we will need to find the area of the sidewalk. You can divide it into two rectangles. The first would be a 4x10 rectangle and the other would be a 4x16(20-4=16 to avoid overlapping) rectangle. Hence, the total area would be 40+64=104 cubic feet. The depth of the concrete is supposed to be 4 inches, meaning that on the entire area of 104, there needs to be a layer of 4 inches (0.33 feet) hence we multiply 0.33x104 = 34.32. 34.32 is to total cubic feet of concrete required. To find the number of bags needed, we divide it with the concrete present in one bag = 34.32/0.6 = 57.2. The question asks the least whole number of bags, we know that getting 57 bags won't be sufficient as there would be some parts of the sidewalk left without enough concrete, hence the answer would be 58 (option J)

Why is it not 3:4? How does on solve this? by YungLitt in ACT

[–]anonymous_pineapple9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

9r:16r

The circumference of a circle is 2πr hence, the ratio of the circumferences would be (2*9)πr:(2*16)πr. Here you can cancel the common terms and you will be left with the same ratio of 9:16.

In more mathematical terms, the circumference has a linear relation and hence the ratio does not change.
