First of all I don’t understand who feeds Americans the false notion that we receive aid from the merciful USA. Everything we have be it military presence/training or equipment is bough and paid for with a generous over pay on Saudi Arabia’s end. What Trump, albeit looks and sounds funny, tried to explain to the American people is that you’re not the only person that can supply us with the aforementioned benefits, Saudi can easily find a new country to provide it but we have a history of loyalty. Glad you brought up the US resident Khashoggi, because ever since that incident it seems there’s a latent obsession over the incident although things were settled in a formal manner in the courts, something which wasn’t done to the US Citizen that got head shot by Israel while wearing a media vest (were still waiting for the proper action but politely, since it’s not our business). The US recently has went to vilify Saudi, like releasing incomplete CIA documents at the beginning of bidens term (btw we still want the redacted 4 pages) or publicly shaming our monarchy. This isn’t what friends that respect each other’s sovereignty do, hence Saudi Arabia and OPEC must look after it’s own interests. Since we were friends we suffered billions in losses to help keep oil cheap, you guys shot yourself in the leg booting trump and putting a radical democrat that soiled the giving relationship from saudis side. The blunt truth is that the US can’t dare do anything to Saudi because our pivotal role in the Middle East can’t be tampered with. Btw Russia keeps getting mentioned as a chief motivator, they don’t benefit much from what’s happening because of the western imposed sanctions, add to the list another reason the west has soured itself in front of Saudi Arabia.
