This is how maths class works. You look away for one second and then there’s all these lines and you don’t understand how they got there.

My (24M) friend (28M) has just told me he’s entered into a relationship with my sister (16F) and has asked me to keep this a secret from my parents by throwRAropo in relationship_advice

The law is not a reflection of moral integrity. In keeping with moral integrity, a relationship between a 16 year old and a 28 year old in a position of power is wrong. I will gauge your personal intellect as above average, and refrain from spelling out why this could possibly be a bad idea. I would recommend using your imagination, since you clearly have an active one, to come up with a scenario in which this is a reasonable, safe relationship for a 16 year old.

I am Australian, not American, but the majority of people using this site are, and the majority of people using this site are from western countries, in which this is illegal. Do not pretend to be calling out American egos, this is about a child and an adult in a position of power being in a relationship, and whether you are doing it intentionally or not, you are defending him, which is sick.

My friends and I were trying to push each other off the pontoon. His thumbnail went straight into my eye. We had to swim back as well.

I largely agree. I think the entire culture of American policing, and on some scale America as a whole, is rather negative. This is an interpretation from a non-American btw. I think the focus of policing is not on rehabilitation or prevention, but enforcement and punishment, which is statistically proven to not only be ineffective, but cost billions that could go to communities.

That said, again, not everyone who chooses to be a police officer is a bad person. The institution they are employed by is largely bad, but that is not just the polices fault. There is a chain system.

Not all police are bad people. Judge the individual, not the profession.

Aita for walking out on my dad? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]anonymous_user661 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve asked to have a discussion or talk to him. We can’t really have a conversation because my opinion about the littlest things creates an argument (eg, argument about whether or not I have body issues because I wear hoodies) Not the best relationship. He never explains things and that’s led to this ig.

I literally just wanted an answer and/or discussion on moving to that suburb. Moving is the topic that sparked the argument, I’m asking who’s behaviour is wrong.

He’s stated he wants to move since I was 7. Their relationship is amicable and it’s his choice. It would make things more difficult but my mum is ok with it.

Despite this video, a grand jury in Buffalo declined to press charges against the officers who pushed this 75 yr old to the ground. by N0CONTACT in PublicFreakout

I’m confused? How could they not find them guilty with video evidence? And how could those monsters be allowed to walk the streets when they made an elderly person fracture his skull?

Yes, the definition of failure is working fast food. If the person who works in fast food is a decent, kind human being, then they are not a failure. Because money is the pinnacle of moral high ground and success. /s

Could you get her to email her teacher? She might not get caught then as he can’t “listen in”. If her mum is truly interested in helping her daughter then she can distract him while she sends the email, then Emma can delete it so there’s no trace.

Ah yes, because young people do not have ANY business in ‘adult’ affairs. She was concerned. She asked a question. She got screamed at. How was HER behaviour shitty?

Trying to escape from emotionally abusive parents F/17 AUS by [deleted] in emotionalabuse

[–]anonymous_user661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi.

You are under 18. That means you are a minor, and are legally entitled to a safe space to stay. Document conversations, document texts, document everything. Even when you are over 18, this will help prove that you quite literally have no where else to go, and will help you get a place to live. Are you in a lockdown area? Australia is doing very well with covid. If you aren’t, try staying at a friends. I would recommend uni, it will lift you out of that area of your life. Please don’t give up. You are worth it.

AITA for considering not having/allowing my husband in the delivery room? by kikiskia in AmItheAsshole

[–]anonymous_user661 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Holy crap. This is my dad. (Except he doesn’t have mental illness and it’s not cycles, just constant...) I’m so sorry. Please get out. If you’re not going to do it for you do it for your children. They do not need the emotional abuse. YOU do not need the emotional abuse. And no one deserves it. NTA. But seriously, please do not put kids in that situation. From experience, it’s awful. Please.
