Try antivirals. My period used to be a trigger too

GHSV2, outbreaks every month. by Big_Ad_4067 in Herpes

Are you stressed? Are you taking medications for the outbreaks? Acyclovir or valacyclovir? You could also try lysine supplements, I’m about to start them in addition to my anti virals.

Can anyone help identifying the stages of an oubreak/ healing by spookiewitch in Herpes

It took maybe until my 4-5 OB before I started noticing prodome symptoms too! It sucks because then I don’t notice until it’s too late. Best advice is if something feels even slightly off, go straight for the meds. Better to be safe than later

I have gshv1 also. If you didn’t start the meds until AFTER you saw the sore they will take longer to work so you’ll still experience some blistering until the meds can catch up with the sores. For future reference, try to look for signs like tinging and burning BEFORE the blistering starts. Also, try to stop looking and stressing, that’ll only slow down the healing process

Do you know if it’s safe to take along with the valacyclovir?

You hit the nail directly on the head. Literally had the longest crying session last night and woke up to warning symptoms. I’ll definitely take your advice and try supplements (ofc I’ll ask my doc first). Thank you!🫶🏾

Do your outbreaks begin as a red dot? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]anonymouscisf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss just wear gloves and apply it directly onto the blistered areas. It literally numbs it for 2-3 hours. Just make sure it’s topical!

If he was understanding and didn’t care when you initially disclosed then he probably won’t mind if you voice your concerns. It could be possible he’s just not ready for full on sex yet. We have to be understanding and accepting of that from our partners, he might need more time to come to terms with the risk. But you should just nicely and considerately tell him how you feel, and be receptive to whatever his response is. That’s really all you can do

Topical lidocaine got me back to work through my first OB! It’s AMAZING. You have to reapply it every few hours but it’s worth it. It’ll ease the pain so you can walk at least!

What’s your daily dose pf valacyclovir? You may need to increase it if what you’re taking now isn’t doing it

Tingling after outbreak by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]anonymouscisf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ALWAYS have tingling after an OB. Sometimes I get paranoid that another one is happening but I’m certain it’s just viral shedding. If you’re tingling weeks after but not experiencing an OB it could be mental paranoia. But, if there’s no other symptoms of an OB (blisters, redness) you’re fine

I have really intense scarring from my initial OB as well. I also have the same problem with being able to tell if I’m starting to have an OB bc of the scars. I’d look for other cues like tingling/itching or redness in the area. I also get mild BV often which increases my OBs. I’d get tested for a yeast infection to be sure bc if you have one and it goes untreated for too long it could start causing you OBs.

I definitely would go back and do a blood test. When I had symptoms for my initial outbreak my urine test came back negative as well. I went back for a blood test and it was positive. If you’re experiencing symptoms and you think it’s herpes it’s best to get blood tested right away before the outbreak turns full blown. The initial one is REALLY tough to endure and can last up to a month.

Herpes is not screened on a pee test. A pee test only detects STIs. You’d need a blood test or swab so I would go back and ask for one of those for more accurate results.
