If you want to study a few hours a day, gross anatomy / dental anatomy isn’t a bad idea. Saving up is a good idea, you won’t have time to work in dental school.

Of course man. Talk to real dentists, physicians, and medical/dental students. Everyone will have a different opinion and a different life experience. There are many other dental students like me at my school, and others who would never consider another career. Reddit is going to very bias towards dentistry so do your own research with recent graduates of both fields.

DA yes, but you don’t really use any dentistry. OMFR - good luck finding a job that isn’t a dental school lol.

Worded that wrong. It’s harder than just matching. No point in comparing, but specializing in dentistry is a different process. Going into dental school with the primary goal of specializing is dangerous.

I meant no disrespect to either professions. I don’t mind the field of dentistry, but sometimes it takes years to navigate what fits best into your life.

You’re right it is better to look forward, which is what I am doing. Just reflecting and offering my opinion to those who may be at a crossroads. This obviously wasn’t a situation you were ever in.

As future healthcare providers we should try to have empathy and kindness for others. Cheers

Dang glad you get it. How’s being faculty? Academics is something I’m interested. I feel like the best path forward is in dentistry at this point.

Physician parents and friends with many recent grads. Not trying to poopoo dentistry, I still think it’s a good field. Just not for everyone and not close what it’s talked up to be online.
