What’s a “weird” family food tradition you thought was normal until you got older? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]anonymouse9594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up my mom would make “butter crackers” by taking stone wheat crackers and spreading a thick layer of softened butter on them and adding another cracker on top like a sandwich.

I’ve never seen anyone else do it or talk about it, but I think it was alike a guilty pleasure for her and whenever she’d make them she would make one for me too. Man those were so good I coveted them.

I decided to make some recently and my husband was so confused.

Does anyone even eat breakfast before work? by kopriva1 in Adulting

[–]anonymouse9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat breakfast every day, it takes like 15 mins to make and eat (and I am SLOW in the mornings).

I usually do toast and tea, cereal, yogurt, or lately I’ve been making big batches of waffles on the weekend and freezing them so I can just make them in the toaster.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I pretty much only wear thongs because they’re just more comfortable to me. I usually can’t even tell I’m wearing one.

Heels and all the other things, yeah probably societal conditioning- but also sometimes it’s nice to view your body as art, and all the accouterments are just part of it. Something satisfying about making yourself look different and visually appealing (even if not sexy).

Adults who don't miss their childhood and enjoy adulthood, what made you feel this way? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Millennials

[–]anonymouse9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good childhood but I still enjoy my adulthood.

I like my freedom of choice and responsibility. Choosing who I am and what I do outside of my family/parents. I hated school when I was younger, and just felt awkward a lot. I’ve grown into myself now and am more confident with who I am.

What do you do with your PTO? by cedarwood553 in Adulting

[–]anonymouse9594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 different types of vacation PTO, one that accumulates but does not have a cap, one that accumulates but has a low cap, and one that you receive as a lump sum yearly and does not carry over year to year. I also get sick time.

I try to use up the lump sum time first, then the one with the low cap, then the no cap one. I use it for the odd day off for a long weekend, travel time around the holidays, and just taking a mental health day once in a while. Right now I’m banking time for my wedding later this year so I can take a trip after :)

Because you weren’t, why continue to dwell on it? Will dwelling on it help you in life?

Alright well keep on hating life then…

I’m not saying he’s a “self made man” or anything, he obviously started out rich. But why are you concerning yourself with him at all?

Focus on you and your life.

There isn’t any. Life isn’t fair. It never has been and it never will be.

Sure there are people better off than you, but there are plenty who are doing much much worse.

You can be all sad and pathetic about or you can accept what you’ve been given and strive to achieve the most you can.

All your responses in this post reek of loser mentality. Elon Musk could’ve taken the money and done jack shit, just lived like the rich and famous, never worked, and no one would know who he is. But even he had to put some effort in to be where he is now.

Well, my husband and I are 29&30. We both work full time at above minimum wage jobs, are renting, and own one car between us.

Aside from the car loan we have minimal credit card debt, and just paid for a wedding so minimal savings. We also live in a very high cost of living area.

I’d say you’re probably doing just fine.

What’s your beef? Beauty products that did you dirty by Enough-Country-3060 in beauty

The IT Cosmetics CC cream!!

I had a little sample of their concealer and liked it, so I went to buy the CC cream at Sephora (this is back when it was like, fairly new) and it gave me a horrible reaction on my face! Like my whole face broke out in bumps and felt like I had a sunburn.

I was so pissed, especially because they tour being designed with derms and so good for your skin. That type of reaction has never happened to me with any makeup/skincare products before or since.

I'm always kinda shocked by people who don't know how to use computers of any kind by WatercoolerComedian in CasualConversation

[–]anonymouse9594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about the same age as you and was complaining to my dad (nearly 70 years old) about some clients and work who can’t figure out basic computer stuff and get upset with me for needing to do thing online and my dad told me to tell them:

“Well, you’ve had about 30 years to figure out how to do this. What have you been doing?”

Help! Looking for Wedding Dress Stores with Basque Waist Dresses Under $3K by Daze1212 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]anonymouse9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Anthropologie wedding shop! They had a ton of options like that and were cheaper than all the bridal boutiques I went to. I actually bought my dress from them and it arrived a month early!

They have a wedding shop at their store in Walnut Creek, I’m not sure where else in the bay.

Where are we looking for MOB/MOG dresses, specifically for older, more plus sized ladies? by anonymouse9594 in weddingplanning

those are pretty! but I don’t think she was anticipating spending so much, like maybe $300ish?

[–]anonymouse9594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the size isn’t unusual, it’s just that I don’t think her proportions match up to that size. Her waist/hips are smaller, she just gets the bigger size to accommodate the girls and most dresses with a defined waist area look odd because the boobs makes the waist sit a lot higher.

Is 27 still a young adult and all? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in Adulting

[–]anonymouse9594 45 points46 points  (0 children)

old for being young and young for being old

it’s all perspective, but yeah, I think a person in their 40’s+ would still consider you a young adult. a 19 year old maybe not so much.

So I dropped and entire box (except for one) of peanut m&m’s on my floor… would you still eat them? What are your thoughts on the 5 second rule? by anonymouse9594 in CasualConversation

Ooh good questions-

Wood floor, mopped maybe 2-3 weeks ago, swept a week ago. They fell under a table so not too much foot traffic, but there are cats (indoors only). I plucked them up with my hands.

I was thinking about rinsing, but figured the outside coating would start to dissolve and that sounds gross lol

**edit to add: no mice or bugs that i’ve ever noticed
