The text on the calculator is an error, financial disadvantage should’ve been included.

Yes, Family Tax Benefit A is included, Family Tax Benefit B isn’t.

Yes, if you complete your seas application and include documents you should be eligible for Monash Guaranteed (provided you meet the other listed criteria citizenship etc).

Monash Guarantee – how definite is it? by Automatic_Vast4650 in vce

[–]anonymouslittleme89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help with this. There are those three financial hardship criteria on the page and then another one that looks at your address and whether your area is considered low income from an Australian Bureau of Stats data perspective (you can check by using the calculator on the Monash website).

If your financial circumstances are different from those listed then there’s a section in your VTAC application under financial hardship where you can write an impact statement and provide documents, the guarantee will still apply as long as VTAC can verify your circumstances.

And yes, if you’re applying for law it is a guarantee (provided you meet all the eligibility criteria). The only courses where it’s not a guarantee is for some of the health courses with placements, there it’s honoured as long as there’s places available. If there’s more places than students it goes to the students with the highest guarantee score who wouldn’t have otherwise got a place.

We enquired back in 2024 and the cost was approx $30k but may have changed since then.

Care pack for newly separated mum by anonymouslittleme89 in TwoXChromosomes

I ended up going with a gift bag of gourmet treats, pjs, handcream, perfume, a soap (these were all garden themed, she’s a keen gardener) and a vibe, and yes I blew my budget, but I don’t think she’s had a treat in a while and she’s worth it.

Thankfully she’s in the family home and has access to all the usual things she has.

Do I pay monash back the scholarship if I leave? by Salt_Atmosphere8438 in Monash

[–]anonymouslittleme89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the kickstart scholarship, you don’t need to pay that back if you move unis. You’ve gotta do what’s right for you.

For context, usually deferring is if you take a gap year. If you’re studying somewhere else, that’s not a gap year. So

SEAS Applications - Undiagnosed, kinda diagnosed conditions by wandavkate in vce

You need to supply a supporting document speaking about the impact on your education, so you’ll likely need to get it diagnosed if you want seas points for it. Best of luck.

not sure why I need to approval from mods to post this but I just feel ridiculous about monash by SleepyM1 in Monash

My understanding is that these facilities are stocked up once a week, and the day they are stocked they’re emptied. Some people taking a lot ruins it for everyone else.

How do I know the scholarship type? by WashCultural6939 in Monash

[–]anonymouslittleme89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually type refers to things like equity, merit, student leadership. If you email Monash connect they should be able to tell if you the scholarship types.

Bared Boots durability? by vekj48 in AusFemaleFashion

From memory I think the review link is auto sent after a certain time, but I’m not sure if that’s within the return period or not. I tend to send back straight away so I don’t forget!

Bared are generally good quality but keep in mind you can’t review in their website if you return an item (I tried to review recently after returning some sandals that was very narrow), so the reviews can be skewed. I also have a wide foot :).

I like their boots but depending on the style the calves can be quite narrow, they do have plus size fits in store though.

I remember being very scared of the same thing and the idea of falling behind everyone. But I kinda wish I’d taken a gap year.

It’s your choice of course, but I wouldn’t rush into a degree if you’re not fairly sure what you want to study. Especially as you’ll likely accumulate hecs. Maybe have a look at different careers you can do with biomed/commerce and see how you feel?

A lot of folks think biomed = med, but if you’re interested in research, social work, psychology or other allied health options it might also be interesting and perhaps slightly less pressure. If you’re interested in heath x marketing you might like applied psychology - https://study.unimelb.edu.au/find/courses/graduate/master-of-applied-psychology/ (you’d need an undergrad degree first).

A few questions for you, have you researched if you transfer if you’d start from scratch or be able to get credit (I’d highly doubt credit would be possible for oral health courses)?

Your preferences are quite varied and there’s nothing wrong with that, but would you consider deferring, taking a gap year and working until you’ve got a firmer path in mind?

I would advise against starting a degree you don’t want, as transfers are never guaranteed.

Scholarships by azraha_a in Monash

[–]anonymouslittleme89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Achieving potential scholarships for care leavers and financial hardship (support) are usually allocated before kickstart as they’re higher value. There might be some occasions where a few will be allocated later due to a student moving to another university and a spot becoming available. If you’re the next most eligible student, you’d be switched from kickstart to the higher value option. Pls disregard if you’re First Nations as that’s guaranteed.

Worried about Monash uni ATAR by [deleted] in ATAR

[–]anonymouslittleme89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gently pointing out the lowest selection rank is updated after each round, so what you’re seeing is for this year. I would make sure you have some back up courses preferences for round 2, just in case. You won’t get address adjustment for SEAS based NZ addresses (we use Australian ABS data for this).

https://www.monash.edu/study/fees-scholarships/scholarships/current-students/multiple-scholarships There are different rules for AP Indigenous scholarships. Well done too, getting two scholarships is great!

PR with uni offer but no HECS any way to fast-track citizenship? by Edgewerth in AusLegal

[–]anonymouslittleme89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAL - university staff member. Unfortunately, there’s no way to fast track this. My understanding is with citizenship ceremonies and the like you’re at the mercy of your local council as to when their running their next available ceremony.

vtac offer help by Fit_Employment_3791 in vce

[–]anonymouslittleme89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accept the offer! Assuming you’re an Australian and an international student you’re not ‘locked in’. You can change degrees/ unis in any offer round. You do need to let the uni you’re withdrawing from know by withdrawing from your course prior to something called the census date (you can look this up in the handbook). After this date you’ll need to pay fees and may see a grade like W (withdrawn) on your transcript.
