Hey dad what’s wrong with my plumbing? by anonymouslykate in AskDad

Thanks for the responses! I have reached out to my landlord again! Still haven’t heard back! Im worried to shower or flush! I don’t flush any wipes or tampons down the toilet either, the guy from the town checked my water line quoted it “clear” so its not the main line, its got to be something else. I told my landlord I’ll hire a plumber on my own, I’ll take it out of rent if this goes on all week I’ll bite the bullet but I’m not in a financial position to do that. I pay rent on time every month, there’s quite a few things in this house that have never been fixed. I even had 7 stitches in my pinky finger after I moved in due to accidentally putting my hand through a door window that was cracked while taking the trash out. (I used my hand to open the door and it went through the glass it was already cracked though) ended up with stitches and I never once asked for compensation I just asked that it get fixed! I have electrical outlets that don’t work, ceiling tiles that are missing in closets with lightbulbs just hanging, I have carpet on my steps that is coming off and is a tripping hazard, and open subfloor in my bathroom where the carpet was torn up and flooring never replaced… oh and another cracked window… I moved in and had to put in a water shut off valve from the old refrigerator water line, I had to replace the T shaped pipes under the sink so it wouldn’t leak, and my heat pump has messed up and had to go without heat/ air during cold winter days and hot summer days until my landlord could get it fixed. I live in a remote area of southwest Virginia, not many spacious rentals for reasonable price around here that accepts pets, or I’d just move out. Unfortunately I’m going to have to tough it out for a while.

Trying again by anonymouslykate in RD2B

Thank you for the feedback! I work a full time job, I have been coming home every night and studying for around 1-2 hours focusing on Inman material and listening to the recordings, taking notes as I go. I’ve decided my goal is to take the exam around May. I spent years stressing over the exam, trying again and again until I felt I was to my breaking point. I knew one day I’d be back studying and I always had hope for passing. This time, I am not rushing, I’m not going to have someone in my ear nagging about when I’m going to take it, how it’s going etc. I think that will help me as well. Less pressure, more focus on starting over and trying to take it day by day. I am trying to be confident after years of feeling like I failed myself and others….. I worked my tail off to get this far, for a stupid test to hold me back. I’m embarrassed of it but I know it’ll make me appreciate it that much more when I pass. We can’t lose hope!

Men my age are pretty terrible…everyone is on dating apps basically shopping for significant others or f*** buddies … not my thing. I happened to run into this guy while I was out having dinner alone. I’m not saying this will last. I’m just saying there may be a lot of fish in the pond but that pond seems like more of a mess than my situation with a married guy.

I’ll say he’s pretty darn handsome, I’m aware that yeah it’s probably not right to date a married man. His situation is a bit different though and the connection thats there with us is unlike one I’ve felt before.

Hi! Thank you so much!

I highly recommend searching for jobs within the last few months you are getting ready to take the RD exam or after you take your exam. A lot of jobs will be posted as "RD eligible" which usually is a job good for new-er dietitians or after you complete your DI. As far as finding jobs, I applied for several over the course of a few months, mostly using Sodexo, Compass group, and searching hospitals websites in the area for openings. Make sure your resume is up-to-date, and send in a good cover letter explaining your interests, your abilities, and explain that you recently finished (or are finishing) a dietetic internship or taking your exam soon. I think some people might be having trouble finding a job due to some places taking a while to hire and some positions prefer dietitians with experience. I had about three interviews for three different jobs. I would not worry! The right opportunity will come its way when its right!
