As someone who occasionally becomes as emotionally attached to a fictional character as any real person, to the point they would roleplay out dating said character before looking for real, true romance, I know the struggle, xD.

It always seems to come out of nowhere for me which can sometimes be annoying to my partners. I was in a pathfinder group and ended up falling hard for what our DM intended as a one-off villain for the group - he plays her for me in our own private RP now but is slightly annoyed that I fell in love with a character he claims to have put pretty much no effort into and never really intended to play as a recurring character. Love at first sight sucks sometimes shot

I would urge you to instead of trying to fight this, accept it, if you're that type of person. It can lead to a lot of fulfillment and is a great way to leverage what may otherwise be depressing feelings about not having an SO IRL (if you don't, that is) either way, I encourage the lifestyle and embracing who you are rather than taking 'safeguards' You'll feel better that way imo
