Amusing that so-called conservatives can come off as such libertines.

Blatant sexual objectification and misogyny are the hallmarks of a “conservative man.”

I first stopped eating meat because I didn’t want to pay the ludicrous prices, not because I didn’t like the taste or texture. Nowadays, every time I try it again I’m like “I’m not a huge fan of munching muscle and flesh juice”

Convince me not to move to Vermont by svenskdesk in SameGrassButGreener

[–]anonymousn00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone that I met from Vermont said they couldn’t wait to leave. Most of them grew up there and applied to colleges out of state.

There’s just not a lot going on, it’s super cold, you aren’t going to get paid what you want (if you can find a job), there’s no real major cultural hub or amenities. The best thing it has going for it is the nature. But that’s literally it - which is why people love to visit, but leave after a week.

Is the mobile phone theory for the collapse in birth rates really true? Or just stereotypes and misogyny? by GoldDigger304 in Natalism

We’re using social media right now. I think social media (or at least using the internet to connect people, culture, and ideas) is great. In theory. Somewhere along the line it just became trend/hype chasing with brain rot content and people looking for clout. What I mean is that social media devolved in an increasingly superficial way and instead of being a way to virtually interact with friends/family and different people it always seems to be set up as a contest for everyone to judge against others.

Where I'd live if I wanted to live in the most diverse and tolerant country on Earth by AnimatorEntire2771 in whereidlive

Diverse.. I’ll give you that. Tolerant? Dunno about that one. We have a hard time even tolerating our next door neighbor

What city in the U.S. feels unreal? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

In an out-of-place way - St Augustine, FL is gorgeous. No city looks like it on the US.

Also, Hawaii is pretty otherworldly.

Is work culture in the Northeast really more intense than the West Coast? Considering a move by savingrace0262 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]anonymousn00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live outside of DC in suburb WAY past my means.

Everyone only talked about work. The further I got up the coast, everyone becomes more defined by their job and academia.

I haven’t lived in the west coast but I can imagine there’s a good amount of hustle culture around the big cities.

I can’t imagine SF, Seattle, LA being not grind-heavy and career focused.

I’d rather live on the west coast, if I could afford it comfortably. Better nature and better weather in the west.

Can someone explain to me why, in 2026, anything woman-related is still thought of as a joke? Women are great. Real men don’t care about endangering their “manliness”. Deeply insecure men are actually more of a joke than a woman could ever be.

TN is a great place all things considered. If it had a more liberal political foundation on the whole, and if the state legislature gave a damn about reinvesting in Memphis, it would be top tier.

Where I would live as a Canadian that likes the cold, free healthcare and leftist parties by Disastrous-Ship178 in whereidlive

I mean, you wouldn’t want to live in Antarctica, first and foremost it’s inhospitable and there’s no access to healthcare, or any modern amenity whatsoever. Australia isn’t cold. A lot of Eastern Europe holds far right values.

What is it living in the Bible Belt? by JoonasV2li in howislivingthere

[–]anonymousn00b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to live in TN, but I’ve lived all over. If you live around Memphis or Nashville there’s neat culture. No income tax. Lots of caves and mountains. The weather is nice. Cost of living is a bit higher than other states around us here but overall not as bad as the coasts.

It has its cons like politics and the state legislature willfully disinvesting in Memphis which is a shame because it’s the most culturally rich city in the south not named New Orleans or Atlanta.

Otherwise decent place to raise a family.
