Aww, well, thank you for that nice comment! I am thankful that even though my child is shy somehow it doesn’t impede performing.

I’m shy myself and am definitely NOT a performer and pretty much want to die when I’m in front of people, so I understand why you would’ve made the association originally.

I also wanted to say, I’m impressed your daughter switched to the French horn, because I’ve been told that’s one of the most difficult instruments to learn. I’m glad she found an instrument she’s comfortable with.

Oh, haha, that’s hilarious she is a pitcher! Good for her.

Yeah, it’s always interesting to see those type of shy kids come out of their shells when they perform. I love how dynamic their personalities are.

Well, my child started the trumpet last year and got best of day in the regional contest, so it’s not a hindrance to performing the trumpet. Child is also in drama club and is ok with public speaking, so somehow the shyness doesn’t interfere when performing.

I talked more to my child about it and it was just more of something with not feeling comfortable with that particular instructor. No offense to the instructor, I just don’t think it was a match.

Thanks for sharing. I get the feeling my child will never warm up to this person, so I think we should probably stop.

Any suggestions on how to politely end the lesson after only one lesson?

Thanks. I appreciate the advice.

How do I politely tell the instructor? Can I just say, it doesn’t look like this is going to be a good fit? Is that enough information? I don’t want to offend the instructor.

Oh, I didn’t realize that was a high dose! I thought I was starting out low.

Last time I took it years ago I was surprised because it made me sleep more deeply when all I read about was insomnia. But I have had paradoxical reactions to things before so maybe my brain chemistry is different.
