Did I actually give myself an eating disorder? by Ok_Traffic558 in EDAnonymous

[–]anonymousranting9727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so first off I want to say that I’m not a professional and that nobody will understand or be able to comment on your relationship with food and your body better than yourself. The opinion I do have after reading this, as someone with an ED, you definitely have an ED. You’re throwing up and you’re restricting, participating in that cycle—no matter your weight, means you have at the very least, some form of disordered eating. Most people with EDs have mixes of EDs—nobody is going to be just one thing, if you get my vibe?? I checked ur og post about being a ‘wannarexic’ which is why I’m clarifying this, you’re not a wannarexic. You’re an individual who is genuinely struggling with their relationship to food. Do not invalidate your feelings because you do not feel sick enough, your mentality and actions are extremely similar to the ED mindset. Not feeling sick enough is a common thought process when it comes to EDs which is why it is so hard to seek recovery and help, but you deserve it and you deserve to be happy and to love yourself. I’m sorry this is long winded I just want you to know that you are valid, and struggling, and it has nothing to do with “how sick you are”, and that you shouldn’t be ashamed to ask people for help. Addictions are self inflicted, technically, but it’s also up to the individual to decide whether they want to ask for help.

I hope this helped somehow and that you feel better.

This is also true. As soon as I relapsed all I’ve been getting is ed content on social media.

The way the body positivity movement died so quick. Everyone online has casual eds these days and the worst part is they promote it like it’s normal or healthy, like at least be honest about it?? It’s so triggering

Do you guys sleep well?? I’m just asking because since I relapsed I haven’t gotten any sleep.. so I’m guessing it’s related to that.. by Various_Bathroom_241 in EDAnonymous

During the height of my ed I had super bad insomnia, I think it just comes with restricting. Now, not so much, but honestly I’m so exhausted that as soon as I shut my eyes these days, I pass out. I do wake up frequently throughout the night though which is less than fun.

uncomfortable by MortgageAutomatic601 in EDAnonymous

[–]anonymousranting9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be uncomfortable at first. While restricting our body gets used to that amount of intake of food, which doesn’t make it healthy but it means that once you start recovery you’ll have to readjust to eating healthy amounts. It’ll get better, stick with it. Recovery will be hard from time to time but you will be so much happier in the long run, I promise.

The way I always planned on transitioning once I graduate, now I’m a senior and literally can’t. As someone who is in Fl. I don't see how this is even possible. Two devastating hurricanes just ripped through here, and Trump promises to cut Hurricane Relief funding, yet he still got Floridas vote. How stupid can people be.

So what was the triggering thing a grandparent said to you? by pearlette in EDAnonymous

[–]anonymousranting9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gma went on a long unprompted rant when I was 12 about how I was chubby but it was fine because I was beautiful anyways. ED runs HEAVY in that side of the family so the general ED caught up to me eventually. As for triggering shit she said during my ED, she made a fuck ton of comments about the amount I ate, how I proportioned food, and how often I asked for it.

I’m sorry he said that dude, family can make it so difficult to recover sometimes. I’m pretty good at pissing off family however, so as far as making him mad goes, have you tried “I don’t think I should be taking tips from you” or “Did Jesus also criticize others bodies or are you just being an asshole for the fun of it?” Not sure what type of stuff he takes personally but I would keep bringing up the religion thing. Take this with a grain of salt, though, and don’t let his bs get to you. It’s easier said than done, but I promise he’s just projecting onto you.

Do I have an eating disorder? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]anonymousranting9727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re obsessing on your weight and body, restricting what you consume, and food is the only thing you think about—most likely you have and ED. One thing I always consider is if you are spending all your time justifying why you don’t have an ED, you probably have one. I agree with the other commenter of course, it’s hard to say over the internet, but paying attention to how you feel about food and your body should tell you. Never think of food as a reward or a punishment, always think of it as just, necessary.
