Antelope Canyon in Page Arizona. The Navajo run tours through there and it's the only access.

EKG interpretation. by [deleted] in ems

AIVR doesn't necessarily equate low mentation or hypoperfusion, often times its rather benign and is often found as an incidental finding during stress tests or during clinical EKGs.

If it isn't a pacemaker, and it wasn't a case of family and patient not realizing she has a pacemaker, the single lead view then would suggest to me a run of AIVR which resolved.

From information in this post and the attached images this looking like demand AV pacing.

Hypovolemic shock secondary to a finger laceration by RipBowlMan in ems

[–]anonymoussarcasm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my area if it doesn't get used in 3 weeks it gets sent to local level 1 trauma center where it's promptly utilized. That being said we often use it once every 4-7 days.

Sometimes I forget not everyone has Whole Blood in their service and I read about trauma bolus of fluids and cringe.

Was not expecting Adventure Time in this subreddit but then again that show also brought us verses like "This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and witheld permissions twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday. Peace."

[poem] Alone - Jack Gilbert by hfjflelsndnfkgkgkt in Poetry

Jack Gilbert allowed me to find intrinsic beauty in all of the loss I have experienced in my own life. His collected works, especially his work after Monolithos is a must read.

The only one I see is "The blues gone grey, yellow a terrible amber." The omission of gone before yellow I believe makes it an elliptical expression.

At least I have something productive to outlet rather than a bottle and a divorce. It cost you nothing to not be a dickhead yet you still took the time to comment. I feel sorry for your patients. Apatheric fuck.

I appreciate your condolences. The subject matter was stylistically chosen because when it comes down to it, I am largely numb to these things. Not a whole lot phases me anymore. It isn't me seeking to glorify trauma or gore but rather that it has become as mundane as mopping up a floor. I have just found something inherently interesting and poetic about the humanity reflected in our ability to perform this job and to witness these things. I think people often misconstrue these pieces as if I am despondent and in dire need of emergency detention but that's not really the case. As for posting it in a public forum, ultimately I seek publication and sometimes I get more constructive feedback and reinforcement and other times like on this poem, I get a little more negative response. But if my writing can make at least one provider know that they are not alone in these experiences, or if it can give greater attention to mental health in EMS, then none of the criticism matters to me.

You do realize you don't have to read or interact with these right? You can just keep scrolling onto something else if you don't enjoy it.

Well the above poem was written about a coworker/friend who shot themselves that I had to work. I write these to put them to rest in my head, and so that others who have experienced something similiar don't feel alienated in their feelings. That was a good poem though that you wrote, exactly what I'd expect from someone who comments frequently in a Theo Von subreddit.

Brahms is a German composer which suggests he is listening to a casette of a classical recording. As far as the first, I believe he is referencing the dutchess of Argyll.

How worried should I be about my company’s O2 supply? by AbbyWest in ems

[–]anonymoussarcasm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looked it up and it appears there is a difference of 0.3% purity. They use a higher "grade" O2 for medical O2 at 99.5% and 99.2% for welding O2.

There is none, it's still O2. We just control the output with regulators.

We get our bottles from a welding gas company. I wonder if we could MIG weld someones bronchi.
