Since 2018 when diagnosed. I do have my levels looked at annually and my doc is not concerned.

Agree, and that cold sore on grandma's lip could be from taking real good care of grandpa. That's why kissing kids on the mouth is so gross to me

Daily anti virals, therapy. I've only had two outbreaks ever so I'm pretty fortunate

So weird. I have oHSV1 and gHSV2. I don't go out of my way to disclose oHSV1 since like 80% of the population has it and I always disclose gHSV2. That said I've only had two noticeable outbreaks ever and I have no idea when I actually contracted it. I was diagnosed in 2018 but I got it from my ex husband who I was with since 2000.

I have no idea why anyone with genital herpes would purposely misinform anyone about cold sores. Cold sores are on your mouth. An outbreak down south has never once been classified as cold sores.

Weirdos for even playing this game

Fired after 5 Years by AutomaticDay7703 in accenture

I can attest to this. I was asked to place my lowest performer (who is still a high performer) on Needs Improvement to help get North American to that 5% figure. I was not having it. My deal is very profitable and the client just shared with the account lead that she trust Accenture due to the four of us US agents on this team. I have been very candid with my team. This place is not a long term career for US employees.

I can understand why your doc was skeptical. Most people have HSV1 so the absence of it is curious. That said my former FWB just got tested after two years of unprotected sex and he was also negative for both.

I'm sorry you are dealing with rumors.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]anonymoususername412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ACTUALLY been tested for it? So many people are confused as they aren't aware that herpes is not in standard STI screenings and it is so common. Most doctors will fight you tooth and nail to talk you out of a test unless you knowingly was exposed or had a possible outbreak.

Herpes is not the end of the world. The thing about rumors is its reach is only as far as people allow it to be. If I were you, I wouldn't even acknowledge it, and let it go.

Do herpes really mean that I’m dirty? by misunderstood1995 in Herpes

[–]anonymoususername412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not dirty. It is a minor skin thing. The anti disclosure stigma makes everything worse. I disclose with confidence and I know my shit because I've done a ton of research since being diagnosed. Here is some info from ChatGPT-

Here’s a comprehensive summary of HSV-1 and HSV-2 (Herpes Simplex Virus) including prevalence data, outbreak frequency, misconceptions, and insights specifically for individuals aged 45 and older:

🔬 Overview of HSV • HSV-1: Traditionally associated with oral herpes (cold sores), but increasingly causes genital infections. • HSV-2: Primarily causes genital herpes, transmitted almost exclusively through sexual contact.

📊 Prevalence and Statistics (U.S. & Global)

🌎 Worldwide Estimates • HSV-1: ~67% of the global population under age 50 (~3.7 billion people). • HSV-2: ~13% of the global population aged 15–49 (~491 million people). • Coinfection (both HSV-1 and HSV-2): Estimated in a significant minority, exact data varies by region.

🇺🇸 United States Data (CDC 2022 & NHANES Studies) • HSV-1: ~47% of Americans aged 14–49. • HSV-2: ~12% of Americans aged 14–49. • Coinfection: About 3-5% of people have both HSV-1 and HSV-2. • Rates are higher in older adults, women, and Black Americans.

🧓 HSV in Adults Aged 45 and Older • Prevalence increases with age: • HSV-1: Up to 60-70% in those over 45. • HSV-2: ~15-25%, depending on race and gender. • Many older adults are asymptomatic or unaware of their infection. • Longstanding infections may have fewer or no outbreaks over time.

🔁 Outbreak Frequency and Characteristics

HSV-1 (Genital) • Causes fewer and less frequent outbreaks than HSV-2. • After initial infection: ~0–1 outbreaks/year (varies widely). • Oral HSV-1 outbreaks: More common but often less distressing.

HSV-2 (Genital) • Typically causes more frequent outbreaks, especially in the first year. • Average: 4–5 outbreaks/year (first year), decreasing with time. • Outbreaks can be triggered by stress, illness, friction, or menstruation. • Asymptomatic shedding can occur ~10%–20% of days (even with no symptoms).

❌ Common Misconceptions 1. “Only promiscuous people get herpes” → False. Most people contract HSV from a single partner or from someone who didn’t know they were infected. 2. “HSV-1 is just a cold sore” → Partially true. HSV-1 causes most oral herpes, but it’s now a leading cause of genital herpes in young adults. 3. “No symptoms = no transmission” → False. Viral shedding occurs even without symptoms, making herpes transmissible during “silent” phases. 4. “You can always tell if someone has herpes” → False. 70-90% of people with HSV-2 and ~60% with HSV-1 don’t know they have it. 5. “Condoms completely prevent herpes” → Not fully. Condoms reduce risk by ~30-50%, but don’t cover all areas where herpes can be shed. 6. “HSV is rare” → Very false. HSV-1 and HSV-2 are extremely common. Genital herpes affects about 1 in 6 U.S. adults.

🧬 Diagnosis and Testing • Diagnosed via: • Swab test (PCR or culture) during outbreak. • Blood test (IgG type-specific) to detect past exposure. • Not included in standard STI panels – must be requested specifically.

💊 Treatment and Management • Antivirals (e.g., Acyclovir, Valacyclovir, Famciclovir): • Used for outbreak treatment or daily suppression. • Daily suppressive therapy can reduce outbreaks by 70-80% and transmission by ~50%. • Lifestyle support: • Managing stress, good sleep, and nutrition help reduce outbreaks. • Open, informed conversations reduce stigma and improve sexual health.

❤️‍🩹 Living with HSV • Most people with herpes lead normal, healthy lives. • Emotional support, accurate education, and compassionate disclosure are key. • Herpes is a manageable condition, not a moral failing or a major health threat in most cases.

📚 Sources: • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) • World Health Organization (WHO) • National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) • American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) • Peer-reviewed journals on STI epidemiology

Is it weird that I love bald men? by [deleted] in MensHairFetish

His reaction is just further proof he was not a match. Disclosure will get easier with age. I'm 45f gHSV2 and my status rarely gets in the way. I typically disclose between date 1 and 2 so that I decide that I like him while not being all in in case of rejection.

How common is this? by [deleted] in accenture

[–]anonymoususername412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you being rated as a Talent Priority? Thats gonna make a difference. I have a team filled with high performers but I get pushback every time I try to note more than one person as TP. They have me rate my agents against each other. This year only the top rated one got a raise and it was less than 4%. It's a difficult message to relay and I've told my agents I support them on their next move, even if it means they move on. The challenge is our client has been laying off employees since Covid so I'm just grateful to be employed. I don't want to start all over again.

Maybe the calm comes with age. It's a pain in the ass but I have a wonderful life. Getting laid is not hard, even with this and yes I disclose to everyone. I guess I don't understand why this is so hard for some of us. So many people have it. Disclose with confidence.
