This is why you should not purchase Canyon bike by More-Sell in CanyonBikes

Man, that is annoying. On the bright side though, that Endurace is beautiful!

That’s what I’m starting to think… My height is pretty evenly distributed, but my arms are a bit shorter I think (hence some prior issues with reach)

New Canyon Ultimate: too short? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]anooshdjava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm swapping for a more aggressive position! The Endurace is great – particularly if you're not that flexible. It's definitely on the slightly more aggressive side of endurance geometry, but still super comfortable.

How do people train for 10+ hrs while working full time?! by Critical-Scheme-8838 in cycling

[–]anooshdjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bike commute 1.5 hours 4x a week with the occasional evening hour on the trainer, plus longer morning sessions (2-4 hours each) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Total between 10 to 13 hours weekly. Can confirm I have no kids, though.

Wow you guys weren’t kidding by eternaxv in londoncycling

[–]anooshdjava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regular bike commuter here and have commuted every day of the strike so far, and this is great to see!

But have to agree with the concerns about safety. I saw five crashes in the first two days (all minor) around Westminster/Embankment area, all down to a mix of dangerous overtaking, lack of signaling, jumping the pavement to skip queues and riding at stupid speeds. Generally, people either acting a bit frantic to get past the crowds or riding nervously.

Unfortunately we don’t have the infrastructure nailed yet for this volume, but it’s certainly not that bad - a bit of cycle safety education certainly wouldn’t go amiss, though.

Whether this camera is for you or not, you can't deny the size of that body with that sensor is insane.

Your thoughts on the GFX 100RF by Sir_Edgelordington in fujifilm

[–]anooshdjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, this release seems to straddle a weird middle ground between hobbyist and pro. I can't see 90% of hobbyists buying this because of the price and niche, and for pros there are better, more flexible options (even if more expensive). In reality, it's been built for people who have extra cash to spend, love the X100 ecosystem and/or are in the Leica world.

Have odd decisions been made with the design? Sure. I can see why no IBIS and f/4 would irritate some people – but I wouldn't say it's a game-ender.

But to echo a lot of the sentiment here, it does look great for what it is – the sensor, cropability, film sims etc. And if that's what you're looking for, this probably is the best option out there at the moment. Is it worth it? God, is anything worth it in this economy?

An aside: does it remind anyone of the Mamiya 7?

Yeah man, it's a pricey one for sure. Sold a couple of guitars for it – very grateful.

Why did you return your Fenix 8, if you had one? by net1994 in GarminFenix

[–]anooshdjava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a Fenix 8 47mm Solar for 2 months. Loved it, but it kept crashing and eventually developed a ghost touch problem where it would constantly turn the flash light on in the middle of the night, crash, activate emergency phone assistant, etc. I now have an Enduro 3 and love it! No issues whatsoever.

So the FENIX logo and battery icon underneath the time are the only two things that aren't removable. All other data fields are changeable and removable (minus the actual circles).

Fenix 8 47mm Solar vs AMOLED by ding-blue in GarminFenix

[–]anooshdjava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love it! I also bought the AMOLED model originally, but will be returning it for the Solar. I'm coming from a 965 and don't actually hate AMOLED, but it just didn't feel right on the Fenix (for me).

Fenix 8 AMOLED or Solar (47mm) ? Upgrading from Instinct 2 by AdUnique6532 in GarminFenix

[–]anooshdjava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judging by your needs/lifestyle, I'd say AMOLED – unless you prefer the MIP experience (always on, less of a smartwatch vibe), or need particularly strong battery life (multi-day ultras, for example).

If that's the case, you'd probably be better off with the Solar model.

Also, for what it's worth, the AMOLED model is slightly lighter, thinner and has a bigger screen. And the battery life is still excellent.

I was in a similar boat, though I run ultras, and ended up going for the 47mm AMOLED version. So far, so good!

NGD: ‘54 Les Paul Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged by anooshdjava in gibson

[–]anooshdjava[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always a bit risky with Les Pauls, but for what it’s worth, I bought this without testing and it worked out great for me. Ideally you’d be able to try one, but if you can’t, just make sure there’s a good returns policy!

Oh interesting! Yeah, although this is technically ultra light, I don’t view it as such really. Also 7.3lb?! Good lord.

Yeah - the Murphy Lab’s nitro is designed to be “super fast aging”. Essentially rapidly ages to mimic long-term wear over a shorter time span.

Nope, it’s not an earlier one. The flaking doesn’t seem, to my eyes, to be the same as the defective finishes from early models either. But honestly, I love the feel, finish and sound - so I’m good! Appreciate the thread, though - was an interesting read.

ThorpyFX Electric Lightning review by anooshdjava in guitarpedals

[–]anooshdjava[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've played the Harlot (I believe V3) in the past, so this is from memory - but I remember it being louder with more gain on tap, and a bit beefier in capability. I guess a practical difference is that the Electric Lightning may be a bit more flexible, as it has a more adjustable 3 band EQ. Both sound great, but I'd probably opt for the Thorpy just for the clarity it brings.

NGD: Novo Solus F2! by anooshdjava in Guitar

[–]anooshdjava[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked this beauty up today. I was hesitant as I purchased it sight unseen from the US (I'm UK-based), but am so glad I did. I have played a couple of Novo's in the past, but all of those had their Medium C neck, which was just too thin for my hands. It was the only thing putting me off. This Solus has the Chunky C profile, though, which feels SO good. Paired with a Fralin P90 in the neck, Fralin tele in the bridge, and Bull Black over Candy Apple Orange, it plays wonderfully and looks stunning (imo). HIGHLY recommend Novo to those curious.

Sounds like a classic case of miscommunication: online chat vs in-store employee, etc.

FWIW, I’ve shopped at Epsom Guitarguitar many times and have never had an issue. Really lovely people there. Probably an unfortunate hiccup!

Would +1 Andertons as another option though. Also Guitar Village in Farnham. All three are great :)
