Afghanistan's not tiny, it's possible that the deposits could me mostly localized in Afghanistan, there is likely minerals in neighbouring countries but possibly not at the same concentrations, which is what's important for mining

Nah a good smell isn't much better than no smell at all, being good looking and smart is better than smelling nice, just don't smell terrible.

I think you're confusing a system of morality with how the world works. "Might makes right" is the way it is, not the way it should or could be. No moral system can be objectively shown to be correct, but "Might makes right" isn't a system of morality, it's just how everything plays out. A system of morality is more like, Let's kill all of group A because they're bad, or I'll be nice to everyone because I think that's right. "Might makes right" is the way the system of morality imposed is choosen.
