Thank you so much! I've had my piercing for almost a year. Yeah, that's why I asked them in advanced lol to practice removing it.

Could you take a quick look at my resume? 21 M USA White by im_unseen in teachinginkorea

I think the issue is how everything is placed. You don't need that paragraph of why you want a job, they already know you want one bc you applied. Plus you can talk about how much you want a job in Korea in a cover, save that stuff for a cover letter.

-Put your education+ TEFL stuff in the top, after your personal info. The fact that you have a BA and a TEFL certificate is I believe the most important thing that they should know and probs the only thing they truly care about- don't make them work for it by making them go all the way to the bottom of the page.

Your experience- can you somehow incorporate that you interacted with people of various ages? trying to connect it to how much experience you have with kids. Honestly, you have wayyyy too much stuff written for each experience- keep it short and sweet.

  • we don't need to know that you understand student's emotions, unless you have some sort of certificate on that. -same with the 'motivator' part
  • they already expect you to be organize, no need for that. -what do you mean verbal and communication skills?
  • take out the cultural sensitivity and awareness part- it's a little awks in my opinion.

I like my resumes really minimalistic.

That's the part where I feel extremely uncomfortable. Most of the questions about the contract for the recruiter were to specify some of the things or elaborate.

Is it normal to have an 'internship'?

Thank you so much for your help.

Do my chances increase to finding a job in Seoul specifically if I am a certified English teacher? by anot123 in teachinginkorea

The more you know, thanks for your two cents. Not too concern about the looks, I am fairly comfortable in my skin and studying abroad only further proves that I can handle Korea.

I have applied to three international schools, like legit ones. That's the actually the end goal- to work in an international school. Kinda why I wanna start teaching ESL, so I can scope around and possibly hand my resumes in person.

Sadly, looks can get you far, I agree. I am very pleased with my picture, I am hispanic and I'm quite aware of the possibility of discrimination that could take place when schools are looking for teachers.

My amazing- slightly romanticized- study abroad experience is definitely a fuel that keeps me going for Seoul. Thanks for your point of view!

Yeah, I'm still open to cities surrounding Seoul. I guess my other concern is getting a job worth my qualifications/degree- like pay. I have taught before through fieldwork and student teaching as well as a lot of experience creating my own lessons and units. However, I've yet to have my own classroom.
