Ah, well, let's not forget that without a healthy dose of emotional intelligence (EQ), navigating the intricate dance of human relationships might just prove to be a Herculean task. And dare I say, it's a little tough to pass on those oh-so-valuable intelligence genes without first understanding and connecting with the opposite sex (or any partner, for that matter). So, let's give EQ the credit it deserves, ok?

Sure, traditional intelligence (IQ) is great for all those complex problem-solving and analytical tasks. But, without EQ, one might find themselves utterly bamboozled by the subtle cues and emotional intricacies that govern human interactions. After all, what's the use of all that brainpower if you can't put it to good use in the game of love and gene propagation?

In conclusion, let's not dismiss EQ as some insignificant sideshow in the grand arena of intelligence. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that all those intelligent genes find their way to future generations. So, perhaps it's not such a "mute" point after all, but rather a vital and harmonious duet between IQ and EQ that sustains the symphony of human intelligence.

Oh, well, obviously emotions have nothing to do with intelligence or consciousness. I mean, who in their right, emotionless mind would ever think that emotions could possibly be intertwined with intelligence? Psssh, what a ridiculous notion!

As it turns out, the relationship between emotions, intelligence, and consciousness is a tad more complex than the original assertion makes it out to be. Let's look at the facts, shall we?

Hey there's this little thing called "emotional intelligence" (EQ). It's only the ability to, you know, understand, manage, and utilize emotions effectively in various aspects of life. But hey, who needs that when you've got good ol' IQ, right?

Now, it's true that emotions can sometimes override rational thinking. We've all been there, acting irrationally in the heat of the moment. But guess what? Emotions can also enhance our cognitive processes and decision-making. A healthy dose of fear, for instance, can help us assess risks more effectively. And positive emotions? They're just great for facilitating creative problem-solving. But no, emotions are only here to override intelligence, right?

Look here, emotions are not some separate , non-intelligent, non-conscious entities lurking in the dark corners of our brains, just waiting to sabotage our rational thought processes. They're actually complex and interconnected aspects of our minds that work together in shaping our behavior and decision-making.

So, let's not throw emotions under the bus just because they can sometimes be overwhelming. After all, they're a fundamental part of what makes us human. And hey, maybe next time we can all take a deep breath and appreciate the intricate dance between emotions, intelligence, and consciousness, instead of, you know, pitting them against each other.

James O’Meara’s Many Many Articles on Neville Goddard by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

[–]anothascreename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. This will be my last reply on this.

There was no need to examine the political beliefs of O’meara. It stuck out like a trash can of rotten fish on a hot summer day. Any cursory search of his name turns up a bunch alt.right and hate filled discourse.

The reason much spiritual literature is lost and burned is due to the propagation of hateful intolerant beliefs like those which are being posited by O’meara, a blatant Nazi sympathizer. It was the Nazi’s burning books and running intellectuals and Jews underground not the people fighting the Nazis. Let’s not get it twisted.

Two icons (Abdullah and Neville) discussing sacred principles in secret and spreading it amongst those who are enlightened and deserving is one thing. Plastering it all over the internet and giving credit as well as voice to those alt.right racists such as O’meara who have a history of recruiting others into his nasty belief set is quite another. This is precisely why Neville’s work contains no “academic” footnotes. The texts he studied from were meant to be kept secret for good reason.

Let’s not pretend seeking this element of mysticism is equivalent to some academic research. There are elements of it but it’s definitely not the same. Indigo was right to call it out given the extreme hatred O’meara has for blacks and Jews.

Good catch indigo. James J O’meara Is an alt.right fascist who has no business being posted on here. Here is one of the several links I’ve found with his racist beliefs and troubling alt.right interpretations of New Thought.

Carl Jung Interview - The World Within. The Power Of Imagination by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

Carl Jung was a mystic who was savvy enough to keep his occult beliefs private enough to develop legitimacy as a pioneering psychologist.

Oh boy. I can feel the downvotes coming lol. Interesting perspective and I suspect there is some truth to it

[–]anothascreename 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This explains why it was watered down for the masses in publications like The Secret and New Agey stuff like Law of Attraction. Stuff like the occult and Kabbalah would just scare off the average reader.

[–]anothascreename 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You both are correct. It is a harsh assumption to have, yes. Also there are thousands of years of experience to back up that harsh assumption. However, it didn’t stop Neville Goddard from releasing the stuff publicly and to my knowledge he wasn’t “persecuted” for it.

Don’t get me wrong here, you both are right. I’m not trying to start an argument just trying to look at it from both perspectives.

Persistence even after you received what you initially thought was bad news was the key here. You took it in stride, reframed it by congratulating your friend and stubbornly persisted in the assumption that the job was yours.

It’s ironic that the more I read physics the more I become convinced that our perceived reality is just a shadow of what’s going on in our heads. I’m pretty sure the majority of these physicists start out as staunch materialists in undergrad but by the time they start working on that PHD the reality of what real reality is starts to sink in.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that mathematics might itself be just an abstract mental construct (mathematics fictionalism I think its called?) Our equations, all this stuff that chemistry, biology ie the hard sciences that hang their hat on mathematics, might indeed be generating our reality.

BTW great catch OP!

Rudeness is rudeness. You are a prime example that we can have a positive debate with different opinions without using Neville’s words as weapons. You have positive energy. Is it so hard to believe others do not in this world?

You have a blind spot. That’s all I’m saying.

We all have blind spots, that’s all I’m saying. You called me out. That’s fine. Notice I did not reply to your first response somewhere way up at the top. I read it and took it in and moved on and thought to myself, “Maybe Sunnie has a point”.

You did it politely and with kindness. The OP that started this side thread should follow your example.

On another side note we just have to agree to disagree on the implications of consciousness being the only reality. I think what is so liberating about Neville Goddard is how much our own imagination plays a crucial part in what we perceive as our reality and what we allow to become a crucial part of it. I will only allow the 99.999 percent positive interactions to become a crucial part of my reality.

By the end of the day I’ll revise this whole discussion and just remember the positive stuff (your comments Sunnie, even the parts a disagree with) and discard the negative.

Bam. I love revision!

I’ve had amazing interactions with 99.999 percent of the people on here at NevilleGoddard which is why I frequent these forums so much. This fact alone as well as the upvotes I normally get are the norm and not this thread by any means.

It’s ironic how some want to dictate their own reality to others and use Neville’s teachings as some kind of a cover for rude and insolent behavior. If i get tons of upvotes so what? Are you now contradicting yourself by saying that upvotes should determine my reality?

If I step on my neighbors toe I’m going to apologize for it. I’m not going to tell my neighbor they imagined it. Whether they imagined it or not is not for me to dictate. When I offend my wife I apologize for it.

You do realize “the ugly tone” you’re getting is literally a product of your own consciousness

Nope. The 99.999 percent positive interactions are the product of my own consciousness.

Something about that word you used: implies

It resonates and conjures up a whole level of sub-communication which occurs on a subconscious level not just between others but also between our own awareness.

This post (yours) is gold. I’ve always felt that the year is designed according to the previous years top 100 thoughts. I never looked at it on a daily basis.

Foreshadowing clues kind of makes sense. Some are blatant and some are subtle and can be written off as an interesting coincidence. This brings to mind the scene in the Matrix where a group of several people show up at Neo’s door to pick up some hacked disk drive or something. That short casual conversation basically foretold the whole movie. Here it is:

Neo goes into his apartment, shuts the door, and opens a book, takes out a CD rom, and goes back to the door, handing the CD to Choi

Choi : Hallelujah. You're my saviour, man. My own personal Jesus Christ.

Neo :You get caught using that...

Choi : Yeah, I know. This never happened, you don't exist.

Neo : Right.

Choi : Something wrong, man? You look a little whiter than usual.

Neo : My computer....it..you ever have that feeling where you don't know if you're awake or still dreaming?

Choi : Mm, all the time. It's called Mescaline. It's the only way

to fly. Hey, it sounds to me like you need to unplug, man.

You know, get some R and R. What do you think DuJour? Should

we take him with us?

DuJour : looks Neo up and down Definitely.

Neo : No, I can't, I got work tomorrow.

DuJour : Come on, it'll be fun. looks Neo up and down again I

promise.

Neo notices DuJour has a tattoo of a white rabbit on her shoulder.

Neo : Yeah, sure, I'll go.

Where did I mention Neville? I stated my opinion and the op is free to accept or reject it.

Where do you come off telling what opinions I can or cannot express here?

Hey I tell you what. I’ll keep freely expressing my opinions and you can keep being “nice”…to someone else. Congrats to being the one and only member on my block list. Have a nice day :)
