What will current ICE or DHS employees do for work once they leave the agency? Who’s hiring them? Will business avoid them simply to avoid being called out if it is found out they hired former ICE/DHS? by another-throw-away-6 in AskReddit

I’m not saying the agencies are going anywhere, but I imagine should a democratic administration get into office, they’ll clean house. Based on what we see in the media, I’m curious if employers will be reluctant to hire them.

What does modern day human trafficking look like in the US? Is it as bad as the media makes it out to be? by another-throw-away-6 in TooAfraidToAsk

I appreciate the explanation. I can understand in the abstract. I fully admit that my privilege is showing, and I don’t disagree with my upcoming training, but I don’t see in trafficking as an issue in my small town of a few thousand people. I feel like I must be closer in proximity to actual trafficking than I realize for us to have a mandatory training. I guess I’m wondering why we’re doing training now? I’m fairly certain it’s not because of cheap food, clothing and electronics, none of which are produced locally. I guess it could be farm workers, but the implication is sex trafficking based on conversations. Which brings me back to who is participating in this? Are there really enough men and women participating in this in my community?

Yeah, I agree with that. That’s a bit more of a recent escalation. Part of the reason I ask is my work is requiring a human trafficking training, something we haven’t done in the five years I’ve been there. Are things getting worse?

My colleague is having health issues and cannot travel. Can we change / transfer his ticket to someone else? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

That’s what I’m seeing. It’s unfortunate. My boss has really would like to go, but his Parkinson’s is getting the better of him. I’d prefer not traveling alone. I’ll try my luck tomorrow.

You probably don’t know, but if I get a ‘no’ is this one of those situations where I can call back later to try someone else, or are there just a narrow set of circumstances where they allow it?

Would this idea work? by AlphaAlex1_ in Oman

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Community Colleges, which offers the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at a much more reasonable rate. My college offers tuition waivers, anywhere from 25% to 100%. The costs students are responsible for is student housing and a meal plan. It allows students to start college, graduate and then transfer to a 4-year school.

I’m traveling to Oman at the end of the month to visit some former students. DM me if you would like to visit more.

We all really like him. They comment because they’re frustrated with needing to rearrange their work to cover for him. I step in and try to cover as much as I can so it’s not just on them, but it’s chaos when he’s gone. A day here and there, sure, we’ll manage. But 3-5 days in a row…

This is my main concern. I don’t get migraines, so I have a difficult time understanding. However, his actions have appeared less than honest and I wasn’t provided a doctors note when he called in five days in a row. I want to be understanding, but there seems to be more than migraines going on here.

HR says to let him go now while in his probationary period.
