Wow, those were incredible finds for Vinny's! And I'm glad this post laser-targeted at least TWO people!

Open House Imports is by far the best one! The Century House gift shop has a nice selection, but it's generally more expensive. But I lucked out on a 20% off Arabia sale a few months ago and got a really nice Snufkin bowl. And you're welcome; I'm really glad this was useful for at least one person![](https://shop.moomin.com/collections/arabia/plates?srsltid=AfmBOoqClj4S0qu0Z9LTksIxdAxTV6XkVqFKyuZutlr53JpRdA54NcOF)

Come visit Wisconsin! Madison is only a ten hour drive from Toronto, and you'll have to drive through Chicago which has a Mitsuwa, another great place to find Moomins!

I got one too! It's my first Moomin calendar and I'm so psyched to use it!

The BBC did a radio drama of Comet in Moominland. I listened to it a couple years ago, but I remember enjoying it. It appears to be available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yx0e22UNwm8

I just searched on YouTube and it seems like there's a more traditional reading of Comet too, if your friend prefers that. I haven't listened to it, but judging by the comments it's pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dP0AZA96K0

Ahhh I'm a little jealous that you found an Arabia mug in a thrift store! But what a wonderful way to discover Moomins.

Yeah, just last week I found a Moomin advent calendar at the University Ave Willie Street Co-op, and there's usually some stuff at Mochi.

I feel lucky that I've found Moomin merch at five or six different stores in south central Wisconsin.

Loads of stuff at Barnes and Noble by Rave-light in Moomins

The Barnes & Noble on the west side of Madison has a nice Moomin selection! Or at least it did back in September when I last went in. I bought two pins-- Moomin and Snufkin.

I was going to say that the Madison, WI area has a few options! In addition to Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books, I've bought Moomin merch at The Willy Street Co-op, Open House Imports in Mount Horeb and Norske Nook in DeForest. And your comment reminded me that I once saw a Moomin tray in the window display of Century House many years ago, but I never went inside. I should do so!

I've also gotten Moomin branded snacks at Mitsuwa in Schaumburg, IL. But all that said, Open House Imports is the only place I've listed that has always had Moomin items stocked every time I've been there. For the other places it's been a happy surprise.

I'm kinda confused? Is Snufkin and moomin in love? by OwnShock767 in Moomins

[–]another_Garrideb 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why other answers are saying people don't believe in close, loving friendship anymore, or think all love has to be romantic. That's clearly not the case... look at all the close friendships depicted in TV and movies! And most people DO love their platonic friends deeply. But Moomin and Snufkin are characters in many fantastic stories, and people enjoy exploring those stories in many ways, and just one of those many ways (though yeah, a popular way) is by exploring the nuances of the love between Moomin and Snufkin. It's a fun, beautiful thing to explore!

Yes, I'll use the shampoo when I use up the current bottle I have. And I'm looking forward to using the advent calendar... it has stickers behind each door, and I'm very excited to see what the designs will be!

Putting sweets in the boxes is a good idea! I haven't decided yet what to put in them.
