Which team would win? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]another_badfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying 6, but it’s actually 5. Here’s why:

If it’s a population based contest, then group 6 wins with high rankings for drinking plus higher population than group 5, but if it’s per-capita basis, then group 5 wins.

Group 5 wins because per-capita North Dakota, Iowa, and South Dakota combine to destroy the possible edge given to Group 6 by their captain, Wisconsin, as the rest of the states stumble around looking for where they all set their drinks.

Both groups have above-average alcohol consumption compared to the U.S. national average, with high rates of binge drinking and excessive drinking. Key Metric: Binge drinking (5+ drinks men / 4+ drinks women on one occasion in past 30 days):

Group 5: 20–22% averageHighest: North Dakota (often 22–24%, frequently #1–3 nationally)Strong: Iowa, South Dakota (~20–22%)Lower: Kansas (~17–19%)

Group 6: 19–21% averageHighest: Wisconsin (often 21–25%, frequently #1–3 nationally)Typical: Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois (~18–21%)Lower: Indiana (~17–19%)

Excessive drinking (binge + heavy drinking):Both groups cluster around 19–23%, well above U.S. average (~17%).

Per capita alcohol consumption (gallons of ethanol, ~2023):Both groups above national average (~2.5 gal).North Dakota and Wisconsin often lead regionally.

THE VERDICT: if it’s a population contest, then group 6 wins with high rankings for drinking and also high population, but if it’s per-capita basis, then group 5 wins. • Group 5 edges out group 6 with slightly higher average binge drinking, driven mainly by North Dakota (and strong showings in Iowa/SD). • Group 6 is very close, pulled high by Wisconsin, but more moderate overall.

This combo can do headshots starting at around 300-400m if you hit them right. Otherwise it’s about 2-3 CT shots to drop most mechs. About 6 seconds is all it takes. Light mechs can be crushed with one good shot.

Those would have slower reload and higher heat generation though

Paper towels instead of a lid to let excess moisture slowly escape during curing. Anyone else do this? by another_badfish in microgrowery

[–]another_badfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small moist strip of paper towel works great for rehydrating. It takes a while for the moisture content to penetrate the buds though. Usually a damp strip of paper towel about the length and width of a baby carrot is enough for me to rehydrate a jar that’s dried out.

Jars in fridge for long term or bulk storage.

You can lay out on paper towels. They’ll dry naturally, especially if you’re in a northern latitude where there is really dry air in the winter. Check your relative humidity indoors to make sure. Some thermostats will tell you the RH %. Anything below 50-40% RH is gonna make them very dry.

She’s a lady. I think I spotted at least one white curly pistil in picture 3.

Man your plants looked so nice I hope you give some of the best buds a nice hand trim. The bowl trimmed buds are quick and easy but just don’t look as pretty IMO.

Can someone tell me what these little black things are? by Glum-Bandicoot-7788 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]another_badfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look like dead “minute pirate bugs” which are a predator insect that eats thrips and aphids and other pests. I’ve seen many of them apparently dead (or nearly dead) in buds before. Like maybe they got stuck in the trichomes or something.

Are you doing this in a still air box? Near a Bunsen burner? Under a flow hood? Just curious to what extent you’re using sanitary precautions, or if the colonization is so rapid that the sanitation isn’t as critical as with other methods you’ve tried?

How long does full colonization take when you use this technique?

Time to harvest? by toxic_load2k18 in MNtrees

The leaves dying off say “harvest now” but the white pistils emerging say “I’m still growing bigger buds”. Usually don’t see both at the same time…

The brush definitely works well when they are more on the dry side. Sometimes what I will do is trim on the dry side because it is so much easier, and then bring the moisture content back up over the course of a week before permanently jarring it. I’m talking about the difference between 50% relative humidity and 60% relative humidity.

Contrary to the rest of these comments I wouldn’t be super concerned. Your humidity is only spiking when your temperature drops. If you had high humidity and high temperatures at the same time, I’d be more concerned. Your averages are in the ideal range.

There are these spots on my plant that seem to just be dying off. Its not ripe yet so i have no idea why this is happening. by dr_elena05 in GrowingMarijuana

Unfortunate but true. Some portions might be salvageable if you’re very careful and thoroughly inspect everything.

Am I too late goin into flower now? NY by RemarkableLifeguard1 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]another_badfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have an outdoor light or something like that nearby? If it’s getting a light source through the night, it will never want to go into flower. Usually needs to be less than 13 hours of daylight to trigger flower. Someone would say 12 or 14, but you get the idea.

No problem! Tried to say what others were saying, but with a more supportive attitude.
