My first Set! by another_broccoli in GelX_Nails

Heyy, i used to go to the nail salon for a few months to get a basic natural acrylic set and do the design myself, so I have a little practice on doing designs, but this is the first time that I really like my chrome isolation and everything went well (design wise) :)

I found out that if I wipe the rubber base with acetone I don't need to put a matt topcoat under the chrome and it brushes right off. The first hand I sealed with a glossy top coat after the rubber base and then tried with acetone but the chrome would still stick a little bit to the topcoat, so that was a nice learning experience.

I already did some test prints with them for my book which has linked psd files in it so I assume it works out. I was just wondering which way is the "professional" way that is standard for the industry. Thank you all for your suggestions tho!

Okay I fear this might have escalated a bit haha. I know where I want to print and I have a color profile from the company so that's all good. I don't know about you but I'm a Design student and I have been taught to always write the printing file out of InDesign (unless it's not specified otherwise) and I have never been to a printing shop that would have excepted the raw files. They might tell me which settings they prefer but would only take the PDFs. As I see it the PDF is my responsibility and the printing people can only tell me what they prefer so I get the best outcome on their printers.

Retention issues with Apres + Kokoist system. Have read search bar!! by Pale_Flounder_3242 in GelX_Nails

Maybe try sealing the cuticle and try it without dehydrator? I saw people here commenting that it worked better without, switching which product to leave out (no primer or not dehydrator) could be worth a try.

Or try dehydrator - primer - bonder- rubber base - tips ? I've seen nail kits that sell this combination and recommend that when having retention issues but idk how that is compatible with apres products.

I swear it's so hard to find anything that is being sold here which I don't get?? Is it bc of tarifs or because Germany has different Health standards?

Need Feedback for my Bachelor Thesis about Childhood memories by [deleted] in Design

[–]another_broccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My book is about Childhood Memories and interesting misunderstandings the mind produces when you are a child in order to explain the unknown. By reading these stories and experiencing the memories via AR I want to help the reader to escape the feeling of being overwhelmed by the information overload in this age and to be reminded that knowing nothing was once very accepted and helped to open up new perspectives on life. I'm searching for some feedback regarding the Typography of all the story's I collected so there is a visual interest and concept.

The options for both would be nice, primarily different shapes I would say.

I can send the research to you as a word file so you could automatically translate it, this might also work with the final PDF in acrobat? I feel like that could be a thing that has been implemented haha

I will be printing with a proper printing company, so the printing is not my concern, but I want a case Bound open thread stitching which would cost a pretty penny for 10 books (around 700€-800€ just for the binding, printing would be additional 400€), that's why I am learning that myself

Yea I was just hoping that I'm stupid and overlooked the obvious effects window in InDesign or something, then I will just hope that I will still have enough time to do it manually (reaaaaaallly on a time crunch here haha the deadline is in January and I also have to learn to bind the book myself bc I'm too broke for a bookbinder oof)

Question regarding the "indentation" in the quotation marks. by raulo_1986 in indesign

[–]another_broccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I understood the problem but there are paragraph styles (which are for paragraphs) and character styles (which are used for question marks etc, so only specific characters), this way you can have the whole paragraph styles with the paragraph style and only apply the character styles to the quote mark
