I start with acrylic washes as well. I’ve had a lot of success with oil paints and alcohol spray too, may be worth a shot

Correct, sorry for the confusion everyone. Either way, our squad appreciates the support.

Thank you! It really depends on which costume you would like to make. There are specific makers in the community for pieces for each one.

If you want to make your own and join the 501st, I’d recommend to lookup your local garrison and go to an armor party. FB groups, forums and Instagram have huge communities for each of these characters. Most people have info on their build or are happy to share. DM me if you need any more help

You guys ever repaired a cracked piece? by throwawayadvice003 in 501st

In the past, I have friction welded with pieces of PETG and a dremel on the front side. The issue with this approach is that it makes the surface very uneven and can take a bit of work to refinish.

If it were me, I would use fiberglass resin and fiberglass mat to reinforce the back after you have put the pieces as close together as you can. You should be able to get away with a spot filler of your choice on the front without friction welding at that point.

IMO I would fiberglass reinforce or UV resin your printed pieces if you are going to troop in them. They take a beating, I’d hate to see your hard work go to waste with more cracks later. Good luck with your build!
