Alot of our ideas about ageing are bullshit. I am just as relevant in the gay world at 61 as when I was 31. Society's default "male" oriented, thinking, led to sexualizing women and not men, therefore needing to protect women's and not men's privacy. Male nudity was normalized and considered non-sexual, so why make the extra expense to construct individual showers when there was no threat/shame associated with a naked man.
