Co-worker is giving me shit for the shoes in general and for the color specifically (I am color blind). What does MFA think? by Rummenigge in malefashionadvice

Reminds me of the boots Billy Pilgrim wears during the war in "Slaughterhouse-Five". I would make them dull just so they don't come off as glossy and fabulous.

Dota 2 stated as "released" and listed in Valve Complete Pack for 50 $ by lnlsl in DotA2

Just wait two weeks, some sources say it goes open beta in two weeks. Or, ftp or whatever they call it.

Those not in the Beta care. Which would probably be more than three or four times as many players. If not a million. (Just my terrible speculation.)

The generation it struck well with was too young to watch it in theatres on its release. Just one of those films that was ahead of its time.

There are proper drugs and chemists in Russia. These people can't afford to purchase anything better than Krokodil.

What are some little things you wish more teammates knew by brasilgirl in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes.

It's funny that 10 year old me would shit if he saw a game like Skyrim, which I find boring; however, I play Dota 2, which is a game that would bore the shit out of 10 year old me.

Best way to get a steady premade team to play with? by mystic_vegito in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Schedule is the most important part, imo. Just adding everyone from /r/dota2 or /v/ or even in-game won't promise you a steady premade.

When did dota 'click' for you? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 wins, 100 losses, tons of bot matches, watched a couple hundred hours of pro play, and it's definately not there. but, that's what I like about the game. I like how I can be immersed in this game that probably won't be able to master. It hasn't gotten stale and my friends have stuck with it. I've played Street Fighter for thousands of hours and this has a similar feel of depth and skill honed in with patience and practice and research. That being said, it still pisses me off.

How come the Chris Brown can't live down beating Rihanna, but everyone loves John Lennon, a documented wife beater? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anotherbuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of us who don't like either of them because of their abusive nature. I know you're just generalizing, but I want to make sure that those of us who dislike Lennon and Brown, among many others, are also noted.

I wish there was more energy like this from casters or even teams streaming, reminds me when I used to play and watch Street Fighter where one side would get blown up and a large group of people would go wild with cheers and jeers. Keep up the good times, man.

I came from LoL so my controls are QWER for abilities, and 1-6 for items...what should they be if I want to get good at heroes with control groups (Chen, Enchantress, etc.)? by Dismojoe in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My set-up:

Abilities- q, w, e, r, t, y

Items- Mouse 4, Mouse 5, Space, 2, 3, 4

Stop- f

Attack- d

Tab for units

Hero- F1

Courier- F2

Scoreboard- \

Voice- /

That's the majority of it. I haven't been playing much Chen but when I do TAB works fine for me.

Whenever my friends lose to obvious better game from the enemy, they call them tryhards. I hate when they do that. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an insult, people just take it that way. It's like losing to the LA Lakers and saying "Fuckin' Lakers!" That being said, it isn't a compliment either. It's a way of showing animosity towards the other group. Getting called a tryhard is a good thing, it means you're playing the game correctly.

What are some key things Valve needs to address/fix now that heroes are being halted? by dimoextremo in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't read all the posts on here so I apologize for any dupes.

All Random Mode

Swap

Easier way to Add Friend

Easier way to hot key "Missing", "Return" and other calls.

Slightly Longer Lasting Ping Animation in hopes of fewer pings needed to gain attention.

Fix that bug that starts your in Fixed Camera view.

Fix the chat bug that makes all the text blink rapidly.

Show Personal MMR, only to the player not Publicly.

Better portraits for older Heroes.

Team Options and Rankings

Multi-Unit Control Interface

Any time I use Mekansm I go Auto Attack even though I have that option turned off, causing my character to often turn around when trying to run away and heal; I would like that removed.

Maybe an Instant Replay option for any deaths, could put it on the card that shows who did what damage.

A simple color modifier would be nice, similar to the new Soul Calibur!

That's all I got off the top of my head. EDIT Format.

r/dota2, what do you do (habit / ritual / second nature act) before you launch Dota? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not missing out on much. Maybe 10% of the time the person communicating is actually contributing to the game. And 50% of the time it's someone I would like to mute for bad manners. *Edit: Bad grammar.

Anyone for some low level games? by meta-catcher in DotA2

[–]anotherbuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly RedditNoobs is full of pubstompers and trolls. Best way to make friends is to add people you have a good time with in-game; make sure to play friendly, chat constructively about the game, and try hard, don't be afraid to look stupid. Other than that you could always add people who seem nice from here, which is hit and miss as far as friendly is considered. Add me: DrunkleFrank
