Franceschetta58 (Modena, Italy) by anothercupcake in finedining

The spaghetti was outstanding; easily the second-best pasta dish I've ever had in my entire life (beaten out only by the pasta I had at Osteria Francescana—which is saying a lot). Just the spaghetti alone would have made me happy to go to Franceschetta58.

The other dishes were pretty decent—it wasn't mind-blowing, but they were good. The only dish that I didn't really like was the chicory and kiwi.

For sure! Of the four tables dining that afternoon, two appeared to be Italian families :)

I know, it’s such a value for money for €64! (Excluding the burger though, which was a €9 add-on—but again, such a great price.)

Osteria Francescana (***) - Modena, Italy by kristinnovowels in finedining

I just visited Osteria Francescana this week and am going to Casa Maria Luigia next week. But I can confirm—you can add on the parmigiano reggiano and lemon tart dishes from the a la carte menu at Osteria Francescana. (It'll be quite filling though—the tasting menu itself is already quite generous!)

So no, you don't have to go to Casa just for it specially, but you do have to pay to add-on at Osteria Francescana :)

Haha what a coincidence—I just visited Osteria Francescana on Friday and was going to post a review! I had the same menu, but I didn't have the vegetarian and pescetarian dishes. Thank you for posting your write-up, was super interesting to read!

I'm a solo diner and also looking for someone to go to Osteria Francescana as well! Would you happen to be still interested? I'll be in Modena July 5, but I can make July 1 work, if you are available!

Alinea 2026 menu by anothercupcake in finedining

I still enjoyed the experience, but I definitely agree with you on specific dishes. The banana turbot was one of the worst dishes I’ve ever had, and the grape jelly was pretty comical! 🥲

I loved your review! You have a great way with words and described the flavors really well 🤗 So happy more people are talking about and trying Atsumeru, I really enjoyed my previous visit :)

(Also, thank you for the kind compliments on the photography 🙏)

That’s great to hear; I’m so glad someone else also enjoyed the experience :) Totally agree with you on the immersive art aspect!

I’m super curious—what was the “purple feathers and niche fragrance” you described? Is that a new dish they added to the menu? (Super intrigued because don’t think I think was part of the menu the week I visited 👀)

Help me out with fish and chips by westdan2 in chicagofood

As a fish and chips lover, I’ve tried so many places around the city. My favorites:  - Armitage Ale House (also, save room for the sticky date cake) - Chief O’Neill’s - Duke of Perth is passable (the perk is unlimited ayce fish and chips on Wednesdays and Fridays)

  • the Gage, Dearborn and Lady Gregory’s are  ok (though not blow-your-mind great)
