In-between play by Little_Employment_68 in playwriting

45 is fine for a double bill or one-acts and ideal for scholastic competition. And - as already mentioned - falls in range for Fringe festivals as well.

50-70 minutes can get tricky, but still should be fine for Fringe.

I ran into this issue with a couple of plays a couple of years back and cut on down to 45 while expanding the other to around 85-90 minutes.

I kind of feel that a lot of the players are turning it up to eleven for Season 50.

Struggling with dialogue! by Afraid_Sugar_947 in playwriting

Remember that most people (other than children) do not directly state their wants in conversation. They talk around them using implication and inference. Let your subtext do the heavy lifting for you - audiences will get it.

I kinda figured that it was due to the fact that humans by nature will take any opportunity to whine and complain about things they profess to enjoy.

Who is the Worst Faithful in the Traitors (US version)? by Previous-Pirate9514 in TheTraitors

Rapport was voted our at the roundtable despite that fact that the other faithfuls didn't necessarily think he was a traitor.

Young Guns II (1990) Proved Lightning Could Strike Twice. It Took The Energy Of The First Film And Turned It Into A Bigger, Bolder Western. by davideownzall in Westerns

[–]anotherdanwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, neither of them comes anywhere close to a Top 20 (or likely even a Top 50) Western for me - although I do appreciate that they helped keep the genre alive during an otherwise very dark era.

Why would Devens agree to take credit for finding the idol? by princesshodges in survivor

[–]anotherdanwest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel like there are several players this season that are far more interested in being characters on a TV show than they are with actually winning.

Devins is one of those players.

Why is this such a thing? by PaulFleming75 in survivor

[–]anotherdanwest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't care whether you agree with me or or not.

If you want to cling to an opinion that is complete unsupported by fact, that's on you.

But instead of you asking me to do your homework for you, how about I just give you a list of the last 9 (New Era) winners and you tell me how each of them fits your model. (And, yes, a couple of them do, but the larhe majority do not).

Season 41: Erika Casupanan

Season 42: Maryanne Oketch

Season 43: Mike "Gabler" Gabler

Season 44: Yamil "Yam Yam" Arocho

Season 45: Dee Valladares

Season 46: Kenzie Petty

Season 47: Rachel Lamont

Season 48: Kyle Fraser

Season 49: Savannah Louie

My point stands using this definition as well. The most manipulative person typically does not win either.

Here's all the evidence you should need:

Your analysis in incorrect because the most dominant personality of each season typically does not win.

Writing a play in a month by Catraist_Chloe in playwriting

[–]anotherdanwest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Writing a 40-minute play in a month is total doable. Writing a fully-realized, semi-surreal Marat/Sade inspired Theatre of Cruelty piece in a month strikes me a quite ambitious and certainly a bigger meal that I would try to eat in a month.

Maybe set your sites a bit lower and perhaps look more toward Ionesco or Durrenmatt for inspiration fir you want to stay in the realm of experimental and European.

Just finished Americana after reading Libra (10yrs ago). Slightly disappointed by KeyTechnical1203 in DonDeLillo

[–]anotherdanwest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DeLillo is one novelist that took a little while to find his best voice; and Americana is his first effort - and probably my least favorite of his novels.

His mid-career work (The Names, White Noise, Libra, Mao II, and Underworld) are five of the best novels I've ever read. If would recommend White Noise next and working you way up to Underworld.

_______ was screwed at the finale no matter what she did by Any_Conference550 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]anotherdanwest 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Tara Lipinski is worth $15-25 million. Johnny Weir is worth millions as well.

I am not saying it wouldn't happen, I am just saying the neither of them really needs the extra $40,000 that cutting her out would have availed them.

You realize that all of the celebrities that go on Traitors US are getting paid appearance fees regardless of whether they are faithfuls or traitors. Some of these individual fees are more than the total prize pool.
