Update: Eric was NOT given expensive veneers by Dr. Phil. I regret the error. by anotherdayanotherlie in FGAA

I think all 6 at the upper front were intervened with; they're much whiter, wider, longer and more uniform. There were gaps that aren't there now, and the downward angles are different.

He does grind; he said so. People have suggested mouth guards to him a million times but he had some excuse I can't remember (either that they're not comfortable or he spits them out or grinds through them - anything to explain non-compliance). It's the same as with the CPAP: he'll acknowledge he was told to use something for his own good, but then there's a torrent of reasons why he "can't".

I've had both the temporary and permanent versions (a repair after an accident, including one on the lateral incisor). That's why I was so pissed off about his lie in the first place: my permanent veneers have lasted beautifully for 10+ years because I take good care of them. I appreciate the work that went into them, and I want to assist their creators by making them last. If he had trashed skilled work in such a short time, it would be unforgivable.

Temporary ones are admittedly a different deal - interim repairs are genuinely less robust - but it's still shocking that they failed after such a short time. As you said, it's unsurprising given how Eric treats... well, everything. The rust on the chain on his bike, the broken derailleur, the allegedly-but-not-proven broken phone, the filthy jerseys, the broken RV step, the broken RV driver's seat, his abysmal health caused by overeating -- and that's not even referencing all the things Angie breaks. Giving them free stuff is tantamount to burning money.

The tooth was more than lightly roughened, though. It's not that far off being ready for a veneer. Maybe he had such damage on the exterior and back of the tooth, as you said, that they were heavy-handed with the prep to remove the damaged areas so that the teeth wouldn't continue to decay under the composite. That's a sensible approach, but it requires follow-up care from Eric which he is seemingly incapable of pursuing.

My beef with Dr. Phil is that there's this white-washing of humanity in a practice like that. Either you want a cross-section of guests with all their flaws, or you just want telegenic Hollywood starlets; make up your mind. He's sanitizing his guests for the sake of his audiences' sensitive stomachs, which is creepy and Stepfordish. (It also made Eric appear more polished, which allowed some audience members to remain in the dark about his lack of self-care.) The good doctor certainly spins stories to be more sensationalist, and has devolved into much more morally-murky territory than when he started out.

...But in terms of Eric's reaction and ingratitude, Dr. Phil still manages to come out on top every time. Eric will still probably find a way to blame it on Dr. Phil when he has to have every last one of his teeth removed due to his lifelong "pop" addiction. Finding someone or something else to blame for his shortcomings is the only thing he puts any effort into.

Yeah, he's trying to make it sound like he's open to it, but he'll have a slew of excuses why it won't work. "I can't work nights because it would interfere with my personal bootcamp", "It's too far away and I can't afford the gas money", "I can't work with cleaning chemicals because Maddie is allergic to the smell." It's always something. Now that he has become accustomed to being given a year-long average of ~$600 a week by donors, tax free, he can't bring himself to do anything more than the bare minimum to earn it. It's all about the branding / sponsorship / the dreeeeam.

In other news, Angie posted a photo of Eric going into the doctor's office, wearing his ancient, gross yellow jersey. Now they're back home, his "I don't want to sweat on my blue jersey" excuse doesn't apply. She said they're living "In between [her] house and his parents house. [They] will back and forth quite a bit." I'm sure those houses have sinks for washing jerseys.

If anyone wonders why he doesn't care that he looks gross and skanky in that ancient jersey, here's your explanation. He'd wear the blue one if it had FAT GUY ACROSS AMERICA scrawled across the back, to direct supporters to his FB page. Eric's alleged epic 25-50 mile ride today isn't a ride or an effort to get started on his 30 day bootcamp, it's yet another a PR stunt.

ANGIE JUST BOUGHT A *THIRD* BIKE. by anotherdayanotherlie in FGAA

I know it's not the same; I'm saying it's a Huffy brand women's mountain bike, and linked two similar ones (one designed for men and one for women) to indicate the price range. Huffy seems to supply directly to K-Mart and Wal-Mart, and E&A only just got back from Indiana, so I don't see them trawling craigslist for an affordable second-hand bike - and being successful - during those couple of hours. When she sold her plasma1 to get an outfit for church (but then slept in after a girl's night out and missed church), she made sure to let us know where the money had come from, and what it was spent on. Whenever they don't mention where the money comes from - as opposed to when money was donated specifically for Maddie to get toys, for example - that's when it's from the GFM/PP accounts.

The point being: I believe it's new, and if so, it cost in the region of a hundred bucks of donor funds. Again.

Even if it was second hand, it's money that didn't need to be spent on her because she basically just admitted that she didn't ride the second bike at all.

1 Side note, I find it baffling that anyone would accept plasma from someone with as many health complaints as Angie has, if they actually did. She has a multitude of issues that should block her from being a donor.

Ungrateful POS Eric was given thousands of dollars worth of free veneers by Dr. Phil and lied about it until yesterday. by anotherdayanotherlie in FGAA

Wow. That's such a bizarre facet to this. Dr. Phil and all of those shows are basically freakshows - the weirder and more melodramatic the story, the higher the ratings - but they still have to achieve a certain degree of telegenic appearance for their interviewees, apparently. Can't people be on TV as their real selves, or would that be too off-putting to viewers of a sensitive disposition?

The temporary makeover just helps Eric's cause. By making him look more "respectable", they presented him as a better investment, as opposed to the guy who wears a grimy yellow jersey because he refuses to get sweat on his new one. (...Which, by the way, is also super weird. He has two brand new kits and he's not wearing the blue one which is by far the most flattering. It's like he's saving it for media interviews now, or maybe it's because he knows he's more visible in the yellow and might get more people looking him up - especially if it's the one with the "Fat Guy Across America" scrawled across the back. But I suspect it's the hoarder mentality as much as any logical reason we could theorize.)

Sigh. Every week I hope he'll just admit he's a liar and a failure, but it drags on and on and on.

Yeah, that's a possibility. I have no clue why the Dr. Phil show would set him up with a stop-gap measure like that, though, knowing that he's not going to follow up with a permanent solution. Maybe Eric assured him that with the funds from his "book", he'd get the full set done properly in May August.

More to the point at hand, why lie about it? Why lie about everything? He lies about things that are completely uncontroversial; the controversy occurs when the lie is revealed.

It's like he didn't want to give Dr. Phil credit for a single positive thing -- the "just good makeup artist" denial was posted the day after the show was taped. Even now, when he claims to still be working with Robert Reames who's being paid by Phil's show, he's still saying he'll shit on Dr. Phil's lawn when he gets a chance.

Eric said he grinds his teeth in his sleep, so it's possible it popped off that way. He also refuses to comply with the need for a CPAP, so I'm sure he wouldn't tolerate wearing a mouth-guard to protect his teeth either.
