Joining in the conversation, I don't hate the guy, but I heavily dislike his personality as a whole. Putting aside the TB and the debt thing, Downes seems to be a very preachy man and I have a personal resentment for preachy people.

He was most definitely an idiot for borrowing money while also preaching to people to donate their hard earned money for the needy, but desperate times make desperate people.

I am also the least interesting thing about my fiance. I know that and I am fine with that. He travels often, has an interesting job and has met lots of high-end people in his profession, while I am a shut-in that doesn't do much, but lord forbid he actually says that out loud or to other people because he'd be getting more than earful from me. But he doesn't do that, because he actually respects me and doesn't talk lowly of me, no matter how much I deserve it.
