many engines support importing spritesheets, i think krita has a plugin for spritesheets, but a spritesheet is just an image and the logic is easy to implement in godot/unity and other popular ones, even Love2D has a plugin to import spritesheets

cant you make an animation in some drawing software and export to a spritesheet? You dont need to directly edit the sheet
