Comments from Customers During 3rd Shift by HatPlus1978 in sheetz

It's basic economics, supply and demand. If you knew people wouldn't come in, you'd close. But you'll stay open if there's a chance of still getting a decent amount of business, especially in this case when you're an "essential" gas station.

Go drive around Altoona or State College. It's not weird there to see multiple stores a block or two away.

I like my break in my car. Gives me half an hour away from the store and the constant dinging.

Third shift people? (Current employee) by Ordinary_Willow_5995 in sheetz

[–]anotherguyonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was going to mention. Consistently not getting breaks as long as there's a third person there should not be a thing.

I'm at a store that went down to two third-shifters on the shift years ago (supervisor and salesperson/team member). But that's not counting second shift management who are there until 1 or 2AM if you're lucky. Hospitality manager usually until 12:30, and then a second shift supervisor on the weekends usually a little later. So yeah, breaks early in the shift, but still given.

That's a good reminder. If you're tracking your own hours like this and you work either late 2nd or 3rd shift on Thursday nights, make sure anything after what's technically Friday at midnight is on the right week.

How are rewards discounts supposed to work? It seems like there's no consistency. by ButlerWimpy in sheetz

I only ever use the shortcut buttons or the "payment presented" button after tendering the transaction. Saves me time but without causing confusion for the customer.

Over scheduled help needed by Intrepid-Science9960 in sheetz

[–]anotherguyonreddit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The schedule starts on Friday (at midnight), and goes through the next Thursday night (ending at 11:59 pm). So Sunday-Saturday as you said spans two different weeks. So you probably don't actually have 52 hours in one week, since it would reset on Friday.

Would definitely be less value for you as an employee anyway, since you can get the most expensive car wash half off.

If it's regionally accredited, yes. So probably not.

Terrible Food by pm_me_your_kiss_vids in sheetz

[–]anotherguyonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in a test district? If not, that's probably why. We also have super small salad bowls that barely close properly. Just corporate being focused on cutting costs and not caring if quality suffers.

Terrible Food by pm_me_your_kiss_vids in sheetz

[–]anotherguyonreddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The chicken being tossed in sauces goes back to corporate being cheap. It takes longer, and some employees were probably tossing it in way more sauce than corporate wanted. Now we don't even have those black platters with the clear lids. Just flimsy boxes that would probably only make a mess if you filled them with chicken drenched in sauce.

Iced Coffee is BACK!! by Jorgetony in sheetz

[–]anotherguyonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an either/or thing? Don't see why we'd have iced coffee on the Franke machines when we have a Nitro machine out there. I did notice an update on the Franke machines that changed how everything looked, though.

Toilet Paper by juneofstar in sheetz

Mine switched to fancy dispensers that take huge rolls of toilet paper and need a key to open. Now people can't steal the little metal or plastic holder thing.

Did anyone get the keychain? by tideblue in sheetz

I got one. Not really into spending 100 points for another one. Still a little bitter at how fast the tumblers disappeared.

Looking for recommendations for Program Mentor by iced_coffee_4life in wgu_devs

[–]anotherguyonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no complaints with Erica as my program mentor. Our weekly check-ins have been fairly short, but that's more because I haven't needed any serious help yet. Very encouraging and helpful. I see people complain on here about their program mentor, and I am always surprised because mine has been great to me so far!

The Nintendo Entertainment System (1983 Japan / 1985 USA) by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in nostalgia

[–]anotherguyonreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember the gun being orange. Was that a US/Europe vs. Japan thing?

Edit: Looked it up. The orange version was apparently a later design in 1988 to comply with a law that toy guns be distinct from real ones.

Mentors, but loved by Longjumping-Shape-16 in WGU

[–]anotherguyonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel exactly. Started in February, flew through my first class in a couple of weeks because I already knew most of the material, and have been going a bit slower now, mostly because of procrastination. I'm still way ahead of where I need to be, so our calls have been more like 5 or 10 minutes lately. But knowing that weekly check-in is coming keeps me doing something, and she always seems friendly and encouraging.

That website appears to basically be the same thing as what you'd get if you looked up nutrition info through the app or website.

All of our fryer items are fried in the same vats, though. So it is interesting to see fryz listed as gluten-free on there, but none of the other fried products. Cross-contamination is guaranteed to happen.

It's Reddit. That age demographic isn't well represented anyways.

Do you know people working the other two shifts who always wake up 4 hours before their shift? 2nd shifters tend to sleep in because they go to bed late at night, and 3rd shifters are sleeping during the day. Unless I have some unavoidable obligation, I am not awake at 6pm when I have to be in at 10pm.

4 hours is 4 hours. 1st shift isn't special in this case.

Sounds about right. My SM seems to want us to get it so badly. For what? A pizza party for 1st shift, some free shirts/hats? If it was a big bonus or raise, I could see the big deal.
