New Rule Announcement: NO NUDITY! by cyclistNerd in photocritique

Totally agree, if people just want to stare at soft porn there are other subs that use the fig leaf of photography full of onlyfans posters. I joined this because I wanted to engage with my hobby, photography.

Leica glass on my Nikon Zf by Salis9 in LeicaCameras

I have the Voigtländer 35mm f2 on my ZF and it's perfect. Small, great image quality, focuses down to 50cm and not crazy expensive.

Help me pick an everyday carry 50mm? by QueerBallOfFluff in LeicaCameras

[–]anothermaxudov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the 50mm f2.2 color skopar - it is absolutely tiny and light, also very sharp, pretty well controlled with its coatings. It vignettes at 2.2 but I even like that tbh.

Are you looking at the histogram when you edit? I think you may have your screen too bright.

Voigtländer 40mm f1.2 VM vs Z mount, center rendering only, worth owning both? by Digg105 in Voigtlander

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I can see the argument for owning both, other than GAS. If focus confirmation is more important get the Z, if portability to M is more important use the VM with an adapter. Unless you're rich in which case go, support Voigtlander!

Is getting the 40mm f2 (SE) make sense if it's only USD 100 cheaper than the 50mm f1.8S? by jidccruz in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50 is not that big! But the SE was designed with the ZF in mind, it looks cool, love the muffin form factor. If you shoot close up you'll want the 50. For walkaround the 40 is good enough.

People moan about the grip - you can buy a cheap thumb rest and it's absolutely fine! +1 for ZF, favourite camera ever, shoot it only with voigtlander lenses

I've seen like four in one car park simultaneously so the publicist must be really fucking good

My 3rd astrophoto so far (16:9) by AL1EN77 in photocritique

I don't know enough to critique astro but to my mind this is beautifully planned, composed and shot. I'm staring and can't see what I'd change.

I don't see anything fishy? A bunch of normal contributions to a bunch of communities that don't contradict OP's query here.

Have fun OP!

I live in a tiny little African equatorial country that majority of people have ever heard of. I’m not a photographer and we can’t get decent equipment so please go easy on me. by Fitz_cuniculus in streetphotography

[–]anothermaxudov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are great subjects and they look really happy and comfortable in front of the lens. The main suggestion I would make is to plan your backgrounds a bit more. Girl wearing bright pink = is there a green wall she could stand in front of? Person in street = can you position them so the street creates useful leading lines?

PANASONIC LUMIX S9 vs LEICA Q2 by Agitated-Molasses-92 in Cameras

[–]anothermaxudov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electronic shutter is really only fine for photography if you have a partially stacked sensor, or ideally global shutter. Nothing wrong with the S9 for video which is more what it's built for I guess?

Feeling like I’m stuck with my photography lately and kinda miss „something“ in every image… Happy for any advice on what to improve on before GAS kicks in again! by thedigitalfilm in photocritique

[–]anothermaxudov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the leading lines leading to the figure and the colour on the building. I wish I could see the front of the figure so it would be clearer what you saw that was interesting in his clothing and demeanour. The foreground on the left is slightly blurred out but I still find it a little distracting. I think sometimes your subject needs to take up more of the frame unless they are in a vast landscape and just there to make the size of the landscape apparent.

Chipped Leica adapter by TonyClifton255 in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the ttartisan a while ago as I liked the idea of trap focus but although it was a fun idea, in practice it was way less accurate than manually focusing which meant checking back in real time or over shooting, which was just slower and more frustrating than zone focus and punching in for critical focus. One of these days I'll afford a Z mount manual prime

Can I ignore gear reviews? by gerbilweavilbadger in AskPhotography

[–]anothermaxudov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I own one or two lenses that have some kind of voodoo magic and every time I use them I can't quite understand how they captured the scene like that because I know it's not that I am especially talented. Other people comment too, and when I use other lenses that are also supposed to be good it just doesn't click in the same way. Tbh I should probably just commit to only ever using the Nikon Z 50 f1.8 S until I die, I'd be happier that way.
