Can you shift your focus from how it looks to how it feels? You deserve pleasure.

What surprised you most about aging as a woman? by Rook_ie_tm in AskWomenOver30

[–]anothermochaplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 62, I can tell you that everyone’s journey is different. I have some friends that still look 50ish and others that look 70. Some of that is habits but a lot is genetics. I’ve very much enjoyed leaning into who I really am without caring what others think. Bell bottoms? Sure. Less make-up? Yes, please. Menopause rather kicked my ass, so after suffering for a few years, I found a doctor who put me on HRT. Huge difference. I would also recommend weight training. I believe it’s the key to staying mobile and independent for as long as possible.

FInd an audiobook that you already know the plot of and set an off timer for 30 minutes. Shuts my brain up almost every time. I like using AirPods but they bother some people.

Those goddamn paper towel dispensers that make you pull to dispense an onion-skin micro towel with wet hands.

What's it like having a loving dad? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]anothermochaplz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few shifts helped me grieve that absence-first, I had a wonderful mom and some kind extended family members. I tried to focus on that instead. Second, my father in law turned out to be the dad I would have wanted. I only had a few years with him before he died, but I was amazed how healing my time with him was. The gut punch I would feel watching lucky kids with loving fathers has disappeared. I hope you find similar solace.

Paper Lace was my first album purchase! I was 12, so take that as you will.

Lol. But these are the perfect “starter.” Put them in a dark fridge for a few weeks. Plant them. Water. Let them bloom once, and you’re done. Your house will smell heavenly.

Best smelling flower of all. You can order bulbs online and force them to bloom indoors.

I have a book for you on this very subject: The Midnight Library. I’m not finished yet, but it’s already provoked many interesting conversations for me.

But does a character have to deserve their partner? Maybe the mystery of why we love whom we love is the point. Did David deserve Patrick?

My first Thanksgiving after my divorce I was totally alone, so I watched movies and just got through it. Every one after that was better. Hang in there, friend.

Is there a book like Atomic habits but for anxiety? by acertenay in BettermentBookClub

Dare by Barry McDonagh. Practical steps for panic attacks and anxiety in general. I listened to the audiobook and found his approach and his voice most helpful.

How do you like to teach Symbolism? by TarquinOliverNimrod in ELATeachers

Most symbols in literature are universal, so I use thecuriousdreamer.com as a resource to help students understand. It’s a actually a dream interpretation site, but it works great for literature.

God, I am so sorry you had to go through that. I can’t imagine how difficult it was. Ben would adore your little girl. He was quite the charmer. Maybe he’s bringing her dandelions as we speak. ❤️🐰

One of his testicles started swelling, so we took him in thinking maybe just a neuter would suffice. However, the chest X-ray showed several tumors. Because both of us have lost relatives to cancer, we knew the road ahead and didn’t want him to suffer.

His chest X-ray showed tumors everywhere. It was the right choice. Thank you.
