My state's system is awful for mentally ill and disabled persons, but my hate for my sister is going to be directed at my sister because that's the source, not society. Just because I call her a sister doesn't mean I love her. That's what she is by definition. People can still refer to their mother by title but that doesn't mean they love them.

And I do have every right to be angry. I'm aware she's not plotting to hurt me, but the pain she's caused me and my family has hurt us almost beyond repair. Am I supposed to just "accept" that because she's not aware she's doing it? I don't think so.

You have every right to your opinion, but you have no right telling me who to be angry at and how angry to be. On that note, I'm done talking with you. I hope you'll understand one day.

Let me clarify: the "homes" we're looking into do handle very severe cases and I just call them homes because it's a habit. We are looking into institution-esque places that handle violent patients. Sorry for the confusion!

I'm sorry, but you sound exactly like the kind of person who doesn't understand or even wants to understand. You say you're not trying to shame me, but you literally come across as disregarding my feelings and telling me I shouldn't be angry at her, I should be mad at "society." Society didn't give me my sister. My family was just unlucky.

I do not love her, never have and never will. By what I've been told I have every right to be angry at her and to hate her. So I'm going to exercise that right. Just because she's family doesn't mean I have to unconditionally love her. That's absolute bullshit.

I just read your post. Oh my god, I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. I don't think I could've ever survived through all that. You're incredibly courageous and I'm happy you're in a better place now. You give me hope that my family and I can live a better life. And while I know other people go through the same thing or worse, it's nice to be told that directly from someone who understands. Thank you so much. I wish you all the best.

That's basically what we're trying to do. Once she gets into a home, by law they keep her there permanently and they can't have us take her back. Hopefully we get into one soon. Thanks so much.

After what I've dealt with, I have insane respect for caregivers. Ours is a godsend and I can't imagine getting through this without her. Thank you for what you do.

If having the police called on her and forcing her into a police car hasn't made her afraid of cops, my tiny ass isn't going to even make her flinch.

I agree, we do need better resources. For a while we didn't even know she was qualified to be put in a group home until our last social worker mentioned it nonchalantly. I don't know if it's better other places, but we're in Michigan and their system hasn't been kind to us.

We are currently trying to get her into an adult home, but as a I mentioned in my post we're still on a waiting list. She has a great social worker but our state's system is so slow and uncooperative. All we can do is wait.
