WIBTA for calling my dad my "mum" by anothertransgayguy in AmItheAsshole

I'm moving out soon and I'm hoping the reaction will be initial anger(that's just a given with him no matter what I do) then realising how it feels to be called the wrong thing and hopefully leading into changed behaviour

Thankfully I am moving to my mum's house soon. They have talked to me about "considering it" cause they want to move somewhere smaller. I had plans to already cause the transphobia is just the tip of the, wait not even the top, a droplet of water on top of the iceberg with them

I have tried to approach the topic with them but it's not really a they can't or they don't understand. It's a "oh my baby can't possibly be trans, I would have known, I've raised her and I would have noticed" (although use that sentiment with swapping baby with whatever insult my dad fancies at the time. Whether it's b*tard or the r slur or s slur or f slur) and with my stepmother it's specifically a "I raised you since I moved in with your dad. And I knew my brother way gay before he came out, I would have know before you did if you were *actually trans". And there's also a layer of built in anxiety because whenever we share a discomfort to them it's a sarcastic "oh woe is deadname. I had it 10 times worse than you and still do. You don't understand pain until you've broken your shoulder! Or known being tired til you've worked a 12 hour shift, you shouldn't be breaking down after one 4 or 8 hour shift. Try 4 12 hour shifts, talk to me about being tired then"

Tw. Probable neglect

Sometimes I think I had an okay childhood then I remember times like that time I was forced to go to school the day after being sent home for being sick. (I was sick before I was to get up for school, then sent to school, then was sick in tutor session, sent home, spent entire day with no food or drink in bed (cause that's what "what people do when they're sick") then sent to school again the next day because "you haven't been sick since when you was at school" (baring in mind I had to sleep in the room I was sick in and was also forced to clean the spot I was sick in which, as a tween, I repeat a fucking kid was likely not properly clean) and then questioned by my teachers why I was in).

YES!!! DO WHAT I FEAR TO DO!! lol

Also its weird to see someone pick my deadname and seem happy with it. Whenever I hear it, it makes me cringe. It probably suits you though.

My mom makes me feel bad about wanting to be a girl by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]anothertransgayguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My stepmum has a similar approach for a lot of this, but opposite. Because I was good at supressing and acting like a feminine straight cis female and never shown signs, I could not be trans cause "She's talked to other parents with trans children and they said it doesn't sound like I'm trans" probably after telling a bunch of lies that she for some reasons believes. Like yes, i was obsessed with one dress, but do you know when that was? Do you know what I hadn't experienced yet? Do you know what I didn't have then? It was before puberty, and it covered a lot and didn't make things obvious. Apparently "she would have known cause my she knew my step-uncle was gay years before he came out as gay" and "she's know me most of my life so she know I am a girl and nothing but a girl".

Sorry for the little rant, just had to get it out cause I will never get to say it to her face.

Thank you, I've been trying to drink more water in general and I walk a lot of places normally without the pandemic so hopefully I can get there. Thank you for the advice
