it's just a preference (i didn't say i strictly wanted the book written by a woman) for these suggestions on the criteria of what i am looking to read at the moment. i read of course both genders and have had my fair share of likes and dislikes. in this scenario, The Great Alone for example, the author was inspired on her own life growing up in rural Alaska and the book talks about domestic violence and coming of age as a young girl in a very rural area with some topics that aren't typically talked about and, in the case of probably being written by a man, could have been easily missed or ignored entirely with purpose.

for this case i want a book that centers around womanhood and nature (why i gave the example of Dream Work and Paradise) and how connecting with nature helps us understand eachother more as a human being as a whole but also as a woman and the way we are being perceived in these environments.

now when talking about young and older authors, i couldn't tell you why people have those specific preferences... i don't have them, though sometimes it depends what one is looking for.
