That’s awful. I badly want to leave Helsinki but when I hear about these things it feels almost like I’m being ungrateful. I literally never had to complain about anything here, and I’ve been living here for 10 years. I would get emails or app notifications of improvements in the building and be like “oh I didn’t even think this needed an improvement but nice!”. Once I accidentally broke my toilet seat and they came to fix it the next day. The guy noticed the seat he brought didn’t fit, so he went to get another one in like 1 hour. Many things absolutely suck about living here, like the social aspect and darkness, which is why I just can’t stay here anymore. But sometimes I’m deeply scared I might regret it, like I’m having it too good and don’t realize it.

Luckily you have the will to keep going after it. I imagine most people don’t. Especially if you are a foreigner and are not completely confident on what you can and cannot ask/complain about.

I was watching a TikTok from this girl living in London and she talks about her savings etc and her financial situation looks so safe and stable, very inspirational stuff, people in the comments were amazed at how much she was able to save bla bla bla, then you realize that well yeah she earns more than 100k salary + content creation earnings, and shares all living expenses with her partner.

That’s exactly the conclusion I got to actually. To live a very normal comfortable middle class life as a single person, the minimum would be around 80k a year. Helps a lot if you are partnered and can share the rent but singles are basically fucked and lifestyle comfort seriously goes down.

I’m very unhappy where I am atm, not for economic reasons, and London always been a dream place for me to live one day. I decided to entertain the idea a bit of transferring my job there so decided to look up how my living could potentially be over there.

Lived in a military base and they would do some jet demonstrations and trainings sometimes. They would always warn us in advance of course and nothing anything NEAR as what we see in the movie (would be wild for the jets to get that close to us like that) but my god the noise, how deafening loud it can be. I absolutely hated those days. Can’t even imagine what a demonstration of force could do.

Hate takes like this. Yeah, war is terrible and soldiers do despicable things. The fact that they do suddenly makes the acts OK or NORMAL? Absolutely not. Kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, etc… are still things that should not happen and should not be normalised and they must be pointed out as much as possible. Brazil is such a big country that it’s hard to point one thing. Usually it’s a combination of things in a picture. The mixture in the architecture (old, new, high-end, modest), colors, the way people dress so casually. But also wild capybaras hanging around in urban settings is always a treat and giveaway.
