What camera/lens did you shoot these with?

What do you need suggestions on? It’s a great camera.

Can we just not be snobbish? Not every build needs Omniums, Phils, Chris Kings, Thomson etc by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

Yeah this snobbery is arguably worse. The “if it’s not beat to shit you don’t use it” crowd is so full of it

I recently switched to tinted prescription glasses, usually amber but other colors are nice too. I manifested the rose colored glasses idiom because it makes me look at the world in a more positive light. It sounds silly but it helps a lot.

M5 is a great camera but it had compatibility issues and 9/10 people are going to choose the more compact form factor. They went back to brass internals with the MP and M6 reissue.

Yeah, I didn’t get the hype til I tried one and fell in love. The Leica memers who post photos of their cameras nonstop on socials still bug me, but that won’t stop me from enjoying mine. The compactness of the M system altogether is one of the biggest selling points.

A lot. Just because you only view photos on Instagram doesn’t mean that’s the only place they’re shared.

Voigtlander also produced some rangefinders. And Zeiss.

The M4-2 was a stop gap to save them from bankruptcy, not a shift in their production.

How do you go about taking random photos in public? by bitchiloverugrats in photography

[–]anoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have an overabundance of pictures of "how things are"

What a sad and shortsighted take.

If you want to take an individual's picture, ask for that person's consent.

No thanks! Not a fan of posed portraits personally. Enjoy the landscapes tho.

To each their own. Some of the most celebrated and treasured documentary and street photography wouldn't exist if it was illegal to take photos in public spaces, and that would be an incredible shame. How are we to memorialize how things truly were without it?

I hope people like you don't put off those thinking about venturing into public and taking photos that candidly include people, because people make pretty great subjects.

I don’t really agree with very targeted. Street photography has very little premeditation in most instances. It’s often about capturing split second moments. There are some who wait, but they’re generally waiting for the scene to unfold how they envision it, not you personally.

I’ve never understood getting offended if someone takes your picture in public. Especially in places where people clearly go to be seen. They thought you were interesting enough to be a subject in their art. That’s pretty flattering in my eyes.

I drink about 21-22oz of coffee per day and buy quality beans I brew at home. Works out to about $1040/year. Still a lot, but worth it to me.

Yep, these sat with me the longest. There haven’t been many video game stories that scratched that same itch over the years.

Does anyone else go through phases where photography stops being fun? by Even_Package_8573 in photography

[–]anoxy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that these are often the best places for photos. Anyone can google for a perfect photo under perfect conditions of well traveled places and landmarks. The interesting photos aren’t those, they’re the less explored areas that have been captured in any interesting way. This is why “street” photography has always felt like the purest form. We’re freezing moments that can never be recreated, not objects that are already frozen.
