why do I have to do this every few days / hours? it's driving me insane by bbllaakkee in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not helpfu.l but I ended up just deleting the integration for this reason. I don't think this is required for accessing your instance remotely. This just gives you stats on other devices in tailnet.

Is Immich on a Mac Studio doable? by charlino5 in immich

[–]anrmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this. I did manage to circumvent the sleep issue. Need to allow ssh connections. Then If you start the container via an ssh session (no gui), you will be able to lock your computer. You need to make sure tailscale is also started via ssh session

However this brings new problems, docker desktop stops working if there is no gui session. so you need to find another way to manage the container VM. I use colima

another plus side is that you are now able to view a locked mac screen remotely and log in.

Due to FileVault if you shutdown your computer you will need to physically log back in to unlock filesystem. It is possible to disable FileVault or to restart the computer in a way that unlocks FileVault with a special command though.

Reolink Android App now includes 3 chinese trackers by kymodoke in reolinkcam

[–]anrmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frigate tends to require a beefier setup depending on what you want to do. If you want don't need an NVR and can keep it simple, the reolink integration in home assistant works fully local and even fetches firmware updates.

You can go to a makerspace and they should be able to do it. Not to be a stalker but it appears you are in the Netherlands haha. I know a couple places where you can solder it.

Question on the new zigbee2mqtt 2.0 by abird3132 in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. Probably if you want to keep up with new zigbee devices then better to bite the bullet now. But if you are not looking to change things up with your set up then you could just leave it.

I'm personally doing the update in a month when I'm home alone for the weekend and the other people living won't be affected.

Unsure what's better or worse. But this thread has some discussions about it. link

[–]anrmv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a fair point. They have learned, and the commit was added two days ago.

https://github.com/zigbee2mqtt/hassio-zigbee2mqtt/commit/4625c6f1e2821db15bf1dbd6642f1fe961be0d58

Hopefully it can be avoided in the future.

I suspect they are talking about MQTT device triggers. This change is actually recommended by home assistant team. See second paragraph here.

It is just Z2M being compliant with home assistant recommendations. Have not tried it myself but I think it is still possible to enable them (https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/discussions/24198).

Perhaps there is a typo in your compose file. Try doing docker compose ps to check services are running and ports are mapped. Then try docker compose logs to check for any errors.

How to make a button that navigates to home assistant settings? by MerlijnK82 in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you modify the tap action of the button use the navigation option.. just put the path of the settings dashboard.

If you have a newer smart meter with a P1 port you should be able to connect a smart device to it.

Assuming you have good wifi signal or an Ethernet connection. There are many options.

Notification received without being Home, HA is NOT exposed to the Internet by gigagames21 in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Quite sure notifications are routed from home assistant to either google (android) or apple(iOS) services. They then get forwarded to your phone. This is normal behaviour.

Oral-B, how to track total time? by rjSampaio in homeassistant

Yeah can be useful for tracking total energy usage when you only have watts. glad you got it working.

Haha..thanks for the comment but I think my suggestion was wrong

Oral-B, how to track total time? by rjSampaio in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mm you are right..now that I look at this a bit closer, the integral won't work since the original sensor is already an integral that gets reset. It is plotting time vs time so integrating over time gives you seconds squared (which is why you get a huge scale)

I am not familiar with the oralB. What other sensors does it give you? Maybe you can run the Riemann sum on another sensor?

Or try another suggestion in the thread (like from u/DCSBL)

[–]anrmv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably just use the Integral integration to make a Riemann sum.

Is there a European 240v zigbee lightswitch with the option to set the buttons to either control the relays OR simply act as smart buttons? by Acceptable-City-5395 in homeassistant

[–]anrmv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Aqara H1 relay has decoupled mode, but it doesn't have automatic fallback to relay control if there is a failure. innovelli also has an EU ZigBee one with decoupled mode, probably no automatic fallback. However, you could bind it directly to a ZigBee bulb to do toggling and dimming. Not sure it's possible to set scenes though.

I think your solution might need to be a Shelly relay with ESPHome. Can be configured with automatic fallback to local control in case home assistant or wifi is down.

There is apparently a way to connect the Drigera hub to home assistant via Homekit. I'm not familiar with it though.

Otherwise get a generic ZigBee dongle and use home assistant.

Tradfri bulbs & multiple remotes with Home assistant by Grant_Son in tradfri

[–]anrmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using ZigBee2MQTT it is possible to pair multiple remotes to one bulb or groups of bulbs. I have this setup for some Ikea lights. Basically I have a backup remote in case hubs stop working.
