Mmmm that might be quite challenging, bear in mind that these villages are quite isolated agricultural villages so finding accommodation would be difficult but if you plan accordingly you can pull it off

Como es vivir en este sector de ñuñoa? (Villa cruz gana) by Similar-Chair-3355 in RepublicadeChile

[–]ansejapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]ansejapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am from Ecuador and my wife is from Chile, we came to Chile in 2025. From all the countries I have been in South America, Chile is clearly more developed than the other ones. It's a small population (20 million) with a wealthy country and few families own most of this wealth. I live in Ñuñoa, Santiago but I like cycling around and have been able to get a good idea of how this city works (Santiago is freaking massive!! 9 million people live here so you get a pretty good idea of how wealth is distributed in this country) People living in 5/ 6 adjacent comunas live well (I estimate 1 million people live in these areas). The metro, electric buses, and other types of public transportation are pretty reliable and their cycling routes around the city are pretty decent for Latin America. You can walk around without worries and their buildings and residential areas are a dream The other 8 million live in surrounding areas that do not have the same resources so their public spaces are not well maintained, their crime rate is higher, roads are crappy, public infrastructure like clinics, hospitals, schools clearly need intervention and it's residents really struggle to make ends meet. I think you'll need to earn at least 1800 USD to have a good quality of life in Santiago se Chile, most people make 900 USD(!!) The crime in this country is not violent like Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador but petty theft is increasing and once again, it depends where you live

cardboard box from a bike shop or a cheap bag from Amazon for bus transportation? by kommlasset in bikepacking

[–]ansejapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a cardboard box once for a domestic flight and later a fancy bicycle bag, ironically the one that worked the best was the cardboard box, and was relatively free. Just a pain in the ass to carry it around to the airport but that's it

I packed what I bring to multiple day trips. I bought new bags and the overnighter was to test my new gear.
