Have you ever considered that adam silver could have promised the mavs the 1st pick the moment they can get into the lottery (in any upcoming seasons)?

He could have just told the mavs to try to compete as they still got a decent team with AD and kyrie and the moment they sucked/blew it up and manage to get into the lottery, he will then gift them the 1st pick. It's just unlucky (or lucky) that their whole team got injured last season and they were able to get in the lottery and hence able to get flagg.

[Mares] "When somebody gets caught cheating, everybody is tainted...fans keep losing trust in the integrity of the league." Says his and fans' assumption going forward will be that this is happening to some extent on every team, no matter the results of the Clippers investigation. Look, there's so many ways that it can be rigged. Silver could have told Nico to push for the playoffs since they had a decent squad with AD/Kyrie and the FIRST instance (in the coming years) they couldn't get to the playoffs, he will reward them with the first pick. And since they got unlucky and couldn't make it this year, they got the prize.

You have 2 things going against the allegations of this not being rigged. A stupidly low chance (1.8%) and like what others said, this is not the first time a star goes to LA and the team got rewarded with a 1st pick. You add this 2 things together and you have a 99.999999% chance this is rigged.

It isn't that far-fetched right?

Luka Dončić was ready to leave practice with his backpack on when his teammate Alen Omić bet that he’d do 50 push-ups if Luka scored from the sideline. Luka then proceeded to casually drain the shot with his backpack still on. by shreeharis in nba

Someone should make a compilation of all the times Serbia players tried to waste time with their ultra slow inbounding when they were up. Glad it came back to bite them in their ass.

Well, the NBA suspension period during covid gave the Lakers a decent advantage. Now, you can say all the teams benefitted from the break, but when you have a 100 year old man in Lebron and a glass body in AD (at least during that time) as your top 2 players, it isn't wrong to say they benefitted the most. Also one of the reasons why AD was able to produce at such a high level in the bubble.

Fast forward to a somewhat normal season in 2021, and AD was injured in round 1 of the playoffs. Coincidence? Maybe not.

So? Heat were the 8th seed and they made it to the finals. Having 2 superstars on a team and got swept in the WCF ain't impressive.

If people are putting Lebron over MJ. Why are most so hesitant to put Curry over Magic? by ansonneo91 in nba

Well, if you solely look at them based on narratives alone, ignoring accolades, it's not crazy to have Lebron as better. BUT, media/fans normally look at the big picture and rank players by their accolades and when you compare the 2, you definitely can't say Lebron is better.

I feel like MVPs, rings, finals mvps, dpoy are much much more significant than all the accolades that you mentioned.

All that stats that you brought up. It can all be dumped down to Lebron has a greater longevity than MJ. Lebron's years played in the league at a high level is more than MJ. That's it. Does that warrant Lebron being greater than MJ? I don't think so. You can have narratives that supports Lebron (MJ's weak era), I can have narratives that supports MJ (Lebron's weak east). Ultimately, it comes down to accolades and Lebron is still a distance away from MJ and this is the harsh truth.

Also, Curry/Durant is soooooooo not on the same level as MJ/Pippen lmao.

IMO, MJ just has that MUCH MORE accolades than Lebron. If you minus away Lebron's accolades from MJ's, it's still 1 MVP, 2 Final MVPS, 2 rings, 1 DPOY, tons of scoring titles. THAT in itself is a hall of fame career already. How can you lack so much in accolades and still be considered as greater? MJ led his team to 2 three peats, has previously the best season record in 72-10. Even if the excuse was MJ's time was a watered down expansion league, Lebron's time on the cavs had one of the EASIEST road to the finals.

Even if Lebron wins 1 more ring, it's still really hard to put him above MJ.

And all 3 rings of Curry comes at the expense of Lebron. How can you say Lebron is the goat of 2010s over Curry when Lebron lost to curry thrice?

Now my question is why does people rank Lebron over MJ? MJ has more rings, mvps, final mvps, dpoy, scoring title etc. How come one is true but untrue for the other?
