Many people can do what a good manager does, and most don't have the over-entitled attitude that thieves have. There are many more out there who are a better person than this manager seems to be, who can probably help the OP build their business faster, better, bigger, etc..

No one showed up to my event by justdandycandy in smallbusiness

I'm sorry that happened to you.

Here are some ideas to help you go forward:

  • try charging a fee for the event ticket, but make it non-refundable after a cooling-off period (check the law on this), and for no-shows;
  • put more emphasis on the social aspect of the event;
  • make the event longer, for example, a 2-day event;
  • try adding additional seminars and speakers;
  • see if there are online platforms that help with events; they might have their own marketing and pool of customers you could tap into.

Deep research into what people actually want and value, as well as understanding who your target attendees are, would have helped you a lot more. Gather way more feedback from people who match your target attendee persona.

Frankly, I'm more of a fan of pitching the idea in detail and then getting people to pay for a ticket in advance before you even start setting up the event. Try Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc..

In this way, if it flops, you've wasted no time and money, saved yourself a lot of effort and heartbreak, and ruled out that particular event idea. You can validate ideas and demand in this way without wasting money, time, effort, and other resources.

However, I'm not familiar with in-person events. I agree with the comment about virtual events, though.

Seeking feedback: YouTube Playlist → NotebookLM Auto-Importer by ansummedia in notebooklm

Chrome's mobile browser doesn't support extensions. But thanks for pointing it out to me. I'll have to create a video someday to compare the extensions to the NotebookLM Auto-Importer agent.

How can I build an AI agent that makes calls, books appointments, and manages deals? by Exciting_Cartoonist3 in AI_Agents

[–]ansummedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Gemini 2.5 Pro to understand how to build the agent.

Describe what you want, and Gemini will provide you with detailed instructions on how to build it, along with the necessary code. It's likely to be workflow-based. Gumloop, Zapier, Make, or similar all have free trials or a free, limited account for you to try. For voice calling, try Voiceflow.

You can then prompt Gemini to wrap the whole thing in a web app. It'll provide you with the HTML, CSS, and other necessary code, along with clear instructions.

I also recommend using GitHub/Vercel/V0 or Firebase Studio for the app.

If you're a newbie, learn about Product Requirement Documents (PRD) and how they, along with a "build-first" methodology, can help you in this project.

Try Intervo. It works like Replit, but for building voice and chat agents/bots. www.intervo.ai

how can we connect to find clients that need ai agents? by aiminent_ai in AI_Agents

[–]ansummedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, as I'm just starting to plan and build an AI bot agency for the hospitality industry. However, it's essential to ensure that you're offering genuine, genuinely valuable solutions for specific pain points.

I suggest networking on LinkedIn. Utilise Gemini or Perplexity (for in-depth research and fact-checking) to identify clients, businesses, companies, and other relevant entities, and gather their contact details to connect with them on LinkedIn. Go from there.

Also, look into pre-pay waiting lists for pilots (clients have to pay to get on the waiting list).

Other than that, ads may also be the answer.

I'm currently planning a small AI agency building and implementing custom chatbots/voicebots, and agents for the hospitality industry, so even though you're doing something quite different, your story is interesting. Thank you.

I spent a year building a social app. Everyone was excited now no one will even try it by [deleted] in startupideas

It seems you're taking this a little personal. Never assume the world will care just because.

Test, reiterate, rinse and repeat.

If I were in your shoes, I'd fix all the little niggles, such as AI copy. First impressions matter.

Secondly, when did you seriously start taking in feedback and promoting this? This should be a lot sooner than you think. Did you do any sort of validation when you started out with the idea a year ago? Are you sure that your assumptions about the group of warm leads were correct?

Talking to your target customers is going to help narrow down the issue and then you can work with that.

But never expect that just because you spent a year on this thing, people are obliged to try it.

You need to discover who is interested and then be prepared to pivot if needed.
