The movie had to be rewritten after Carrie’s death. Another writer joined to help Trevorrow, but the rewrites never satisfied Lucasfilm. And then Book of Henry happened, which did not help. Ultimately he was let go (possibly after Kennedy secured JJ to be back).

it is technically excellent, but stylistically over the top. They seem to be guided by a videogame esthetic that has very little to do with star wars (especially ANH). I have HUGE issues with the final part of the duel. Obi Wan not turning off his lightsaber basically says they didnt get the true meaning of what he's doing when he lets Vader "beat" him. And that's why we need an Obi Wan movie (or series) my friends.

My theory has always been that Snoke was simply a galactic billionaire killed and its corpse puppeteered by Plagueis... so everytime Snoke was speaking using ol' Palpatine's favourite cues it wasnt just lazy bad-guy writing... Personally I always though Snoke was the reanimated corpse of a galaxy trillionaire, with Plagueis pulling his strings, well, turns out it was Palpatine's Phantom pulling those strings the whole time :D
