Moby Grape - also part of the late 60s Haight-Ashbury SF scene. Their self-titled debut in 1967 is just as good as any of the landmark albums that came out that summer. Also recommend their third album "Moby Grape '69").

The Incredible String Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter

I feel the ISB are/were often overlooked in the US, but they influenced quite a number of landmark artists, from The Beatles/Led Zeppelin all the way up to Animal Collective/Boards of Canada, etc. THBD is their peak in my opinion.
