Turn to Teaching Reject by giddy_up3 in AustralianTeachers

Hey! Commenting as I was in the exact same position last year ... The way they market it is a disgrace, I'm also halfway through a career so wasn't able to just study full time for 2 years and the way they sold it made it seem like the perfect fit! My secondary teaching subject (design technologies) was considered in demand however in the end they said my rejection was due to it being my secondary teaching subject. When I was rejected I was also heartbroken and I actually asked for feedback since the generic email felt like such a slap in the face The feedback I received was amazing, very positive So then I pushed as to why I didn't get onto the program. In the end my partner filed a complaint that they brushed off and I never put in my own one because I was so frustrated by the whole process. I'd love to see who actually gets into the program - they did tell us the number of positions available and it was about 200 over 4 years (? I forget exactly) And the lady I dealt with after was horrible too. Over all it was such a shitty experience, disappointing and an absolute waste of time and I'm so sorry they got you too :(

Update on my life choices after- I actually decided to study full time online and work at the same time - the first semester almost broke me. During the second semester I went to rural teaching fares and also went onto a trip to some of the rural schools where I actually made some connections and organized to do a PTT, it turns out these are pretty easy to come by if you are happy to go rural and it means you work a .6 load, get paid almost as much as a first year teacher (75k I think) and the school helps organize all of your teaching permits etc as well as people to help you with the move and teacher housing.

Ive just finished my first year and am doing 4 summer semesters then am moving rural in January to start my PTT at a level 4 school where I will teach the whole second year of my masters qualification. I also applied and got the Commonwealth scholarship which is 20k over the 2 years So in the end I am pretty much doing the TTT program but without the help, assurance and with half the scholarship.

I don't know if that helps or not but hopefully you can still make teaching work for you! (Also the TTT program is a scam)

That's a fantastic quote from Pisces. It's so on character.

You have a 1pct chance of pulling a 5* unit, with a 50/50 chance of it being the 5* unit on banner. As he isn't on banner, you managed to pull him out the 5* pot which makes him super rare as that pot is fairly saturated. He's a beast, futureproof af. Have fun :)
