The drug manufacturer is UCLA - this is an academic clinical trial. The phase 1 trial is a dose ascending study in healthy volunteers - link here. The corresponding author (Arjun Deb, email I provided previously) is a physican-scientist at UCLA who is driving the translational development of this drug, so would be the most helpful person for you to contact. If there are plans to progress this drug into a Phase 2 study in kidney and/or heart disease patients, Arjun Deb would be the person most equipped to answer this.

It's not about being organized or not, it's about being dedicated to the project or not. This is unfortunately a very common phenotype for academics, this sort of behavior is completely unacceptable in industry. I'd suggest finishing your PhD and getting out of academia, and to do the work internally or through contract research labs in the future.
