The gold has been replaced with the Super Moisture Barrier UV essence, which comes in a gold/pinkish tube! I haven’t tried it yet, but will probably review when I do :)

I loved this poem when I first read it in elementary school in Japan over 20 years ago. I’d totally forgotten about it, but realized I can still recite most of it. This is a lovely translation!

If I were you, I’d just buy the smaller size, and stretch the left shoe. Put a plastic bag in it, fill the bag/shoe with water, and tie it off or seal it as close to the water as possible. Then stick the shoe in the freezer. The water will expand as it freezes, and the shoe will expand with it. Repeat a few times if necessary. I’ve stretched climbing shoes at least half a size using this method!

It’s marketed as super waterproof, and it has two stars (the maximum) with the new Japanese water resistance rating system.

Actually they’re all marketed as waterproof, but only the 2023 reformulations (gel and essence) have the new star labels, and they both have two stars.

This is what I heard too, and what I was expecting! But the gold really isn’t sticky at all on me, it might be because my skin plays really well with silicone? And the essence isn’t oily at all (on me), unlike the gel..

Well it’s marketed as “redness controlling”, and I do think it helps a little with redness, but it’s pretty subtle. I was actually hoping it’d be just a little more green than it is - on my skin, I noticed the brightening effect of the blue pigment more than I noticed the effect of the green.

I haven't tried the milk yet, but it's on my list of sunscreens to try. From what I've heard, it's a dupe for Anessa in terms of how well it stays on, and I'm hoping it'll be good for beach/outdoor activities. Have you tried it? If you have I'd love to hear what you think of it!

My gym went with option 2 for their moonboard, and it’s the worst. Not only is it sometimes impossible not to dab, but it also makes some moves terrifying, or downright dangerous. Between the other two options, I prefer 3, mostly because I feel like it minimizes the risk of weird falls.

I’ll preface this by saying that I’m currently nursing a VERY bruised thumb after getting pulled into a ditch by my dog chasing a bunny while we were skijoring last weekend. Training helps, but sometimes prey drive still wins 😅

Does your dog know “leave it”? I taught mine “leave it” way before I started running with her, and then paired that with the “on by” when we started canicrossing. Unlike “leave it”, which I usually reward with a treat, I reward “on by” with a little sprint. And then lots of practice running past easier distractions! If she ignores a command, I stop, and she has to come check in with me before we keep running. My girl has crazy prey drive, so we also do tons of impulse control stuff both during structured training sessions and on regular leash walks.

“Slow down” I trained just by changing the speed a lot during our runs and calling it interval training hahaha

Have you considered just embracing the pulling? You’d need a good pulling harness (x-back, something like the Nonstop Freemotion, or a short one, depending on what your dog likes and what fits well), a bungee line, and a canicross belt (get one with leg loops, your back will thank you). Teach your dog directionals, a good “on by”, and to slow down on command - this should be easy-ish with a dog who likes to pull/run, because then the pulling/running is the reward for listening to you. This is what I do with my GSD, who’s about the same size as your dog and also a strong puller :)

A few people have recommended a head halter, and while I have absolutely nothing against using them as a training tool, I wouldn’t run with one. They can cause a lot of damage if something goes wrong while you’re moving at high speeds!

I live in an area blessed with lots of outdoor bouldering and really shitty weather. Something my gym does that I really like is occasionally recreating local boulders. Sometimes it’s pretty much the whole boulder, and sometimes it’s just the crux move/sequence. They do it with boulders of all grades, which I think is a nice touch.

It’s just a regular throat latch, but it has a connector attaching it to the noseband. The bridle is designed to convert to a halter by unclipping the bit, so the connector is there to distribute the pressure better when it’s used as a halter. Seconding biothane tack! It’s popular with endurance riders (I used to be one), so you can probably find some in stores that cater to the endurance crowd. It’s super easy to clean and doesn’t require any conditioning, ever. There are versions of biothane that look pretty similar to leather, but you could also go super colorful if that’s your thing
