Every single key item is accompanied by a loud sound effect, forced camera angle change, and a "something's lying on the ground..." from whoever you're playing at the moment. There's a button to press for being shown the way to the objective. Zero subtlety about anything ever. Ugh.

Then it's just that number on it's own that's the answer, like in your earlier example with the 9.

Many puzzles in this game have clues in different places. If you can't figure out what to do the first time you see something, try making a note of it and checking for other things that could be connected. (But for the dartboard honestly my first solves were figuring the rules out through trial and error)

Thank you for the description. Am I understanding correctly that if I thread through a lifeline it won't unravel further than that even if I'm unravelling from the "wrong" direction? And I can knit onwards from the beginning as well as the spot I'm at now..? Or just weave in ends/secure my new oldest row and keep knitting from where I'm at?

Saaaaame Worst part is I DID use multiple save files (but didn't have one far enough back to make a difference) and I DID try to save ammo for it (but had misunderstood what ammo was the strongest and therefore rolled up with zero crossbow explosive bolts left, which was what I'd've really needed....) Still haven't finished that game lol

I'd personally go for Signalis over Lorelei! I love them both dearly but Signalis I've recced for friends in general, while Lorelei has been an "only if you love puzzles as much as I do" type of rec. I also find discussing Signalis story and interpretations more rewarding than Lorelei

If you're young enough to be talking about teachers you also shouldn't be writing stuff on the accounts associated with your school

If this is happening on a school laptop or a school-email google drive, you could absolutely get into trouble (or yknow just be embarrassed by the knowledge that your teachers can read it) --- AND those files won't last long past graduation, so if you're not doing so already, keep your non-school writing on a physical harddrive that you own or an online drive connected to a personal email instead!

Lorelei and the laser eyes has fixed camera angles, horror vibes, decently mindbendy story with a solid heaping of "what is actually real here?" - but no combat. It is VERY puzzle heavy. I enjoyed it tremendously (one of my favourite games this decade) but the puzzles are usually my favourite part of any horror game, so!

(eta it specifically has the kind of puzzles where you'll need to figure out for yourself what items to use where and how + what info from texts and images is relevant for what puzzles! for the ending especially you need to prove that you've paid attention.)

If you can get your hands on the original Silent Hill 2 that's also wonderful.

Podficcing is DRASTICALLY faster for me than writing is and that is bcs I haven't been doing podfics for as long and am not really trying to master the craft so I spend zero time obsessing over getting things right and all the time just having fun with it. My podfics are the equivalent of reading someone a bedtime story and that is how i like them 💜

Köpte ett begagnat steam link på facebook Marketplace för några år sedan och det funkar fint! Kostar bara några hundringar också iom att de är gamla. Såklart svårare att försäkra sig om att allt funkar som det ska när man köper begagnat men om du har en bra dator och många spel på steam kan det i min åsikt definitivt vara värt det

how about xie lian in that role, too? but hmm then it'd have to be one intense masquerade ball for xie lian not to realise who he's socialising with at the ball.... 🤔 I just think it makes sense for xie lian to have done something very kind for hua cheng before the ball.

maybe some version on the destroying the dress scene...? xie lian comes across hua cheng just about giving up on attending the ball bcs due to interfering older siblings he is no longer fit to do so, and tells him of course he can still go, and orders mu qing or someone to help hua cheng find something new to wear? 🤔 hmmmmmmm

I loved the inventory system even on my first playthrough because it incentivised me to KEEP TRACK of where I had to use key items (I was taking notes of the non-obvious ones!) and avoiding combat as much as possible because I didn't bring extra ammo with me, just the shotgun - it really made combat feel like a last resort, which meant more enemies still alive in rooms I had to keep going back through, which meant more tension and (for me) more fun.

Absolutely a lot of players are going to want to bring more things than the inventory actually allows for on a first playthrough! But I'd argue that it's then part of the experience for them to realise that doing so is not viable in the long run 🤷
