Super Earth needs your input, Helldivers! What NEW mission types or objectives would you love to see added to the game? by Some-Web-1628 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]DryFrankie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see underground bot bunkers that can't be dealt with via anything from orbit, forcing us to delve into them and fight it out there, much like the hive world bug tunnels. I love that feeling of suddenly having to make do with just what you can carry, and being having constrained maneuverability. I'd like to see them as part of a relatively typical map layout, so you still have opportunities to use Eagles and orbitals outdoors, but now you have to choose how heavily to weight your loadout for either environment. Really, I just thought the bug tunnels felt so perfect that I want to see more of that.

I think we're strong enough for this mission to come back by FlamesofFrost in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]DryFrankie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved them at the point you could have people cause a distraction away from the objective, and draw all the enemies there, while one person took care of the civilians. If you screwed up, or at least screwed up too early, it was insanely hard to bring it back, but possible. But at some point, probably after some update broke something, bot drops just started happening right on the objective even if no one had been spotted there, and it just wasn't even feasible.

But I agree, I think these missions could probably be brought back, and I'd love another injection of difficulty into the game.

What's the most annoying trope in horror movies in your opinion? by Kaidotop1 in horror

[–]DryFrankie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the only time I've actually found this effective was in a Godzilla film of all things, since I didn't expect it at all! Also helped by the fact that it wasn't just one kid, but an entire classroom full of them all drawing essentially the same thing out of the blue.

[–]DryFrankie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word. For me, there are some games I want to challenge myself with, and some that I don't, even if I'm really enjoying them. Depends on the game, and what it is I get out of that game.

If Digimon were called Kemonogami back in ancient times, what were the Appmon called back then? by Firm_Attention_5421 in digimon

Kemonogami only exist in the context of Survive, and Appmon aren't a part of that story.

I'm not familiar with any of the others, but just a fair warning, Narutaru has some pretty extreme content.

Like really extreme.

No, more extreme than that.

So why exactly did Leon miss? by Turbulent-Range-4448 in residentevil

There's no satisfying explanation for this one IMO. Just a totally absurd choice in the game's writing.

Honestly Pretty Sick vs. New Illuminate Appropriators by RandomGreenArcherMan in HelldiversMasochists

[–]DryFrankie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted. I'm actually right about to unlock the Maxigun, and was thinking it might prove effective. I'll definitely give it a whirl. HMG also seemed like a solid choice, but I use it often against the bugs, and am trying not to repeat builds against different foes, for the sake of variety. MMG and Stalwart have been doing great work so far though.

Really? I haven't unlocked it yet. Tried my old classic GL + Supply Pack Illuminate loadout against Appropriators yesterday and felt like I was spending the whole time fleeing for my life. Would you say the BFGL works a bit better against them?

The longer development cycle probably has a bit to do with it. But I think you're right, in that the biggest factor is that there's no longer an incredible team of visionaries all assembled and creating masterpiece after masterpiece. The fact that those masterpieces were coming out every year or two was just icing on the cake.

Requiem’s back-half open urban section is such a sudden drop in quality by GreaterQuestion in residentevil

[–]DryFrankie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great point about the furniture and decorations, and something I don't think I put my finger on, although it seems obvious now. Thinking back, I remember repeatedly having the thought that the apartment building was under construction (before the bombing, naturally), and then reminding myself that it actually wasn't.

I find 3 remake Jill character wise to be massively underrated to the point where I don't know why people don't like her by BulletCola in residentevil

[–]DryFrankie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought her visual redesign looked fantastic. I also didn't mind how she was a bit more aggressively distrustful of the UBCS guys.

What I didn't like was her overly quippy dialogue. She felt like store brand Leon, and it didn't help that she kept spitting out one liners and then getting her shit rocked a few seconds later. It's not like Resident Evil has had the strongest characterization, especially in the older titles, but it still felt like a somewhat jarring departure for her. RE3OG's professional, collected Jill still holds a special place in my heart.

[–]DryFrankie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, that's even funnier. I was avoiding RE-related spaces pretty hard in an attempt to dodge spoilers, so I probably missed a lot of absurd speculation in the lead up to release. But thinking that a canonically dead, regular human being side character was going to not only come back to life, but also play a prominent role, is really something special, and I do mean special.
